Got scammed by a construction company

We had a old house, which we thought of renovating and we approached a construction company which promised to deliver us the new house within 8 months time period. Initially the work went well but after a while they tricked us to get all the installments and left with unfinished work. Right now the situation is such that almost 95% of the amount is with them and they have barely completed 70% of the works. Its going to be over 2 years now.
We have already filed a consumer case and the delay in proceedings is like anything. Has anyone here had to go through similar kind of situation and if so how were you able to deal with it?
Our situation is such that we don't have a house right now, we as a family are wandering around and living with load of uncertainties around this. We put in almost all the money we had into this disposing other assets like gold and property.
Feeling really helpless 😓

What's the Malayalam word for Achar?

If tamils have a separate word for it, so should we. If achar originated in sanskrit I can understand this common word with indo European languages.

There must be a Malayalam word for it.

Ganesh Utsavam in Kerala.

Was it always celebrated in kerala? Because, i started noticing it everywhere lately. Also, unlike other states it just organiser (bjp/rss associates)present most of the time with Little to no public(malayalees) involvement. It was my first time seeing them taking idols for visarjan.

Can you read and write Malayalam?

I grew up outside Kerala till I was 15 (2010-11), then moved to Kochi. I somehow had learnt to read and write Malayalam without effort and have almost the same level of speaking proficiency in both Malayalam and Hindi. I was surprised to meet kids around my age who couldn't read and write Malayalam properly (it was CBSE, so Malayalam wasn't taught). Some had learnt to read only specific bus name boards. Note that most of them were born and raised in Kerala unlike me.

Are there others here who struggle to read and write Malayalam despite being raised in Kerala? In my native Palakkad, I found this to be rare.

Empathetic feminism over gender wars

Growing up in Kochi meant a blend of Indian cultural values with a space to grow for a progressive mindset.

Women are not wrong, a large part of malayalee men have an aggressive or demeaning mindset about feminism. I did too but maybe being in the right circles helped, it took a while and lot of unlearning yet I'd like to think that I'm a feminist today.I was given a space for that from the women in my life that I grew up with.

At the same time, I feel like the society is hard on men too. While it’s crucial to call out harmful behavior, it’s equally vital to provide space for growth and learning. If men feel constantly attacked, it may lead to defensiveness instead of reflection. Which can be seen from the increasing urge to form so called alpha male groups.

Today I feel like society goes to extremes were everyone just hates on the other because they dont understand or approve. Have we as a society become overly sensitive? Allowing room for mistakes and the opportunity to understand why something was wrong can foster real change. Do understand that all the women and men around us were brought up in a patriarchal society as well, which meant they were groomed to look at it the wrong way since birth.

Hoping this would be a safe space to discuss and learn more for everyone in this sub.
