This security-focused messaging app allows you to register a unique username so that people can message or add you to groups without necessarily knowing your phone number. You will also see options to turn off autoplay “GIFs” and Videos”. You can take a new photo, upload an existing one, search the web for a new image, or remove your current photo. “Privacy” itself isn’t a particularly attractive product feature in online services. It can be nebulous: We can’t always feel or understand it, and sometimes it’s only when privacy is taken away that we take it seriously.
