Kerala Tourism Superthread

Dear Keralites,

Please add tourist spots you know as replies to the respective district names in the comment.

Unpopular locations preferred along with obvious popular locations.

Just mention place names (and maps url/latitude longitude if notlabelled on maps,or hard to find in case of unpopular locations)

No description needed, reddittors can look it up on maps.

Please avoid posting other comments, let's try to do this in a systematic way.

Should nikab (full face covering) be banned in Kerala?

Arabization has absolutely change the landscape of malayali muslims since early 2000s especially the outfits of muslim women. As an NRK who is living in GCC, i was downright shocked to witness the vast majority of malayali muslim women who nowadays wear arab women's attires such as abaya/purdah, full hijab & a lot of them who wear nikab while they earlier used to wear native local outfits. These outfits were previously exclusively used by arab muslim women just like their arab muslim men until some decades back. While the attires of arab muslim women went on to become the global islamic outfits for muslim ladies, the same didn't happen to the attires of arab muslim men which is straightaway baffling & a double standard. Whereas the vast majority of malayali muslim men continue to wear native & western outfits

While in GCC cities, the no: of nikab wearing arab muslim women rapidly declined over the years when compared from 90s to 20s, the vice versa happened in kerala. Some ideologies of arabization like wahabism & salafism which are fundamental & extremely conservative in nature managed to creep into kerala & negatively impacted the life of a very high no: of malayali muslims in their day to day life whereas GCC arabs are distancing themselves from those fanactic & intolerant ideologies

Edit: mass downvotes OTW

Slave trade in Kerala

My friend told me a story last night that her Ammachi’s (Syrian Christian, born in the 1940) grandfather bought a man and brought him home from the market one day. I’m just curious on how that timeline would work because I thought slavery was abolished in the 1830s in Kerala. And they weren’t that rich of a family, so it’s crazy that they could afford that. Were slaves the cultural norm for that community? Or do you think this is just a cooked up tale?

Witnessed shocking incident at Lulu Mall in tvm

I was in lulu mall in the morning as it was a holiday (Gandhi Jayanti) and I was roaming around in funtura before entering pvr. I saw couple of teenaged girls (I assume) going for VR360 ride, so for those who don't know its like sitting in a roller coaster it doesn't turn 360 though but belt is necessary for this ride. Suddenly the staff for this ride turned on this ride without strapping that kid. She fell from that ride and got jammed between the ride and the floor . I heard her screaming and she didn't know what was happening as she was wearing vr headset. Then bunch of people came hearing the commotion and somehow removed her from there. I think she was hurt in her hips and arm. She was then taken away in a wheelchair.

Folks be careful when you get on such rides, ensure you are safe and strapped up. Staff's carelessness will cost our arm and leg. I don't know what happened to that kid, but hopefully she's doing alright. Getting hurt in hips is no small deal, it can leave us paralyzed. Be careful out there.

If anyone who knows her is reading this please update if she's ok
