Unlike other parts of the country, the construction of six-lane national highways in the state requires acquisition of land with a width of 60 metres to develop future highway development. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) demands effective

Kerala recorded lowest polling in the last 25 years. A dip of 7% from last loksabha election. How is it going to affect Kerala Politics.
I personally was expecting close to 80% voters turnout in this election since campaign from all the three political frontiers was so strong this election. But the participation was lowest in the last 25 years. An election which recorded even lower polling happened in 1999.
Most of the time a low voter turnout brings advantage to cadre parties. So i think this time ldf will perform better than last election. Also if we look at the history of kerala whenever kerala recorded less than 75% polling, it has benefited LDF. A low polling ensures a congress sweep doesn't happen.
Also a minority vote consolidation for congress didn't happen in the state until last time since a lot of congress dominated constituencies recorded lower than average turnout.
It is yet to find out what caused the dip in the turnout, it maybe a voter's fatigue due to unsatisfactory alternatives, lack of trust in efforts of congress nationally, or heat which i don't personally believe since loksabha elections are usually held during summer.
Whose voters didn't turnup is a suspense which will be revealed only on june 4th.

I would like to thank the exemplary service done by NSS volunteers at polling booths.
I was greeted by a school girl in NSS uniform when I reached the polling booth with my family, even as we were looking to park the car, she guided us to a right parking spot and as we got out she immediately enquired about our ward number and guided as towards the correct polling booths. She was the only NSS volunteer deployed at that polling station, yet helped every person who went to that polling station for the entire day. Maybe there was other person who takes over after half day.
I researched about it after I came home. Apparently, a total of 4,460 student volunteers were trained by NSS and were deployed at 2,230 booths to help the elderly and assist the citizens to make the election process easier.
What a remarkable service!

Women of r/kerala who drink. Have you ever had a drink or still drink from a local bar(not talking about high end bars or in cities)?
There's a recent discussion going on social media about the lack of representation of women in malayalam cinema. Njan local baril sthreekale onnum angane kanar illa. I even believe our romanticized chaya kadas were all men only spaces. So just curious to know!

Kerala Police - Horrible Working Conditions
I am lawyer. I don't have any friends or relatives in Kerala Police. I have no vested interests in writing this.
No sympathy/concern for the police or forces.
As a lawyer I found that -
Kerala Police has a very horrible working culture.
100 + Kerala Police Officers have committed suicide in the past one decade. With many others having mental disorders because of working hours and stress.
This is the condition across many states in India. Not just Kerala.
Kerala Police is one of the best law enforcement agencies in the country. Only when you work with police outside Kerala especially north india you would understand how good Kerala police is.
There are bad cops everywhere. Not just in Kerala/India. But majority of Kerala Police officers are good professional cops.
SI and Constables don't have a concept of working hours or shifts. Vast majority of the end up working overtime. Even 14 to 19 hour shifts are taken by Kerala Police officers. They are transferred mechanically 500 kms away from families because of service rules.
They are often suspended for no reason or for things which they don't have control. Kerala Police departmental enquiries even happen for trivial idiotic reasons.
And for the worse they work in extremely stressful conditions. Hubdresss phone calls from random people, powerful politicians etc. Insane amount of workload etc.
If we want to improve human rights, public safety in Kerala. Improve lives of Kerala police. Improve Police Morale.
Kerala Police shouldn't suffer this.
One way to start is,
Reduce working hours.
Give them proper fixed shifts.
Stop extreme transfers.
Make them feel good and appreciated.
