Banks that allow loan by pledging vacant land
Hey I'm asking here since it's kind of an emergency doubt and google isn't giving accurate information. A couple of us friends graduated our bachelors, and were planning to move abroad for our masters. We all have above 9.0 CGPA and have received offers from universities. However, one of us met with a sudden issue when her bank (Bank of Baroda) informed her that she cannot get a loan by using vacant land. She has some land in her mothers name which has been vacant and unused for a long time, (around 40 cent) and pledging that was her first and only option. Is this the case for all banks in Kerala, or are there other banks that let you do this? Any and all information on this is massively helpful. Thank you all.

To my Father, A Great Man
My father passed away yesterday (June 10th). His death was sudden and unexpected, and I still can't believe I'm in a home that no longer has him.
I used to think the quote, "God gives His toughest battles to His strongest soldiers," was something people said when faced with challenges. But in my father's case, it was true. He was a devoted man who woke up early every day for Salah and recited the Qur'an. He ended his day with the same routine. He followed a healthy diet, avoided anything harmful, and couldn't stand smoking or drinking.
2 years ago he was diagnosed with blood cancer (AML) and kidney cancer (RCC). 2 cancers simultaneously.
For any other human beings, it would have destroyed them, including myself.
But my father, faltered in the beginning, kept his stand and fought against those cancer cells. He didn't lose his faith, his confidence even while undergoing the extreme doses of chemotherapy or surgeries. All the other patients around him were dying everyday and he kept his same routine even while stuck with drip on his bed. He inspired us to move forward instead of the other way around. After eight months, his cancer went into remission, and he was discharged, though he continued with occasional hospital check-ups.
My father didn't often express his love openly, a trait I share. However, he became more expressive after his near-death experience. Despite our quarrels, we were a happy family, and I learned to love my father more over the past year and a half.
Last week, he developed a throat infection and fever, and tests revealed the return of cancer cells. He went to the hospital yesterday morning for a diagnosis, where he suffered a sudden drop in blood pressure and a heart attack, requiring ventilator support before he passed away. My brother and mother were with him, while I was on my way back from Bangalore
The last time I saw my father alive was in April, and today I saw his lifeless body. I feel overwhelming guilt and regret for not coming home sooner. I wish I could have seen him, talked to him, maybe even hugged him.
I was a fan of Young Sheldon series which ended last month in which Sheldon's father steps out of home only not to return alive. And Sheldon thinks about the different scenarios he could have spent with his father before his sudden death.
I too keep on thinking about all the ways I could have spent more time with him before he left us.Every time I wake up, I pray it’s all a dream and that it's not real. I picture my father in his routine or doing things he loved like watching football or wwe, but reality strikes hard.
Thank you, Father, for everything. And thank you, reader, for staying until the end.

How’s working at SIB?
I am an MBA graduate who got placed in South Indian Bank as probationary officer.
• Would like to know about the work culture at SIB
• How is it compared to Federal Bank (wrt salary and perks, work culture etc)?
• Any horror stories of working at SIB?
• Future of SIB and career prospects after working in a bank.
• What all should I keep in mind while working in a bank?

The story of how i got my brother a job by interacting with a random 5 min interaction with a stranger
Some days back i accompanied my friend to this place for service delivery, where i saw a notice for a vaccancy. Having my brother in mind i took note of the phone number to send it to him. But one major issue was his qualifications. He was not a better suit for that position, giving the arts degree he had. It was for a warranty related position. So he had to know the parts in and out.
At that time he was working with a low salary(10k) and in a worst condition in a sales job 40kms away from home. This place is only 3 kms feom home.
Having my doubts regarding his eligibility, i asked the delivery staff whether he would be considered for this position to which they replied to try enquiring about it via the number in the notice and the decision lies with the manager.
Before leaving i just had a hunch to meet the manager, so that i can confirm this thing right then and there so that he wont have to waste his time. I then asked them if i could meet the manager and they directed me to his office.
There i had a chat with the manager and he was a really awesome person. He didn't outrightly reject my plea for finding a job for my brother. He told me to write down basic details about his qualifications and all on an A4 paper which he will keep and consider if any opening that will be suitable for him comes in the future. He also told me that he will watch over him and if he gets the job, his life is secured.
After that we talked a bit more in which he enquired about my brother's current job details. On learning that he was going through the hardship of travelling long that too for a small salary, his approach changed. He became considerate and told me to send in my brother the next day itself and he will try to train him for that position. He also shared his story of how he was a job seeker 20 yrs back and how he reached his current position through the help of various people.
Now, i send in my brother the next day and he was offered the job. They told him that he will be having the training and to try to complete the training at the earliest to start working.
On the second day(today) he was summoned and told that they are promoting him to supervisor position as that position is currently vacant and he will be getting a salary raise. He must be really lucky.
All these things strengthened my faith in humanity and all thanks to that kind manager for giving him a job out of the blue.I am inspired by the manager and I wish maybe someday, i too can help somebody in need like this, when i am in such a position.
So, to you guys, take every opportunity you see and who knows what it will turn out to be. Put yourself out there, talk to people build connections, learn from people.
tl;dr : I helped get my brother a job which was entirely unrelated to his qualifications by having a random conversation with the manager. He then got promoted to supervisor on day 2.
