Qavam House or Narenjestan Garden of Qavam in Shiraz:
During the Qajar period, it was the residence of the governor of Shiraz. This mansion was built & completed by several generations of the Qavam family. The nickname "Narenjestan" also comes from the orange trees in the courtyard of this mansion.
The main entrance of the garden faces to south & opens into a porch. The entrance door has beautiful brickwork decorations. On the forehead at the entrance, there is an inscription made of red marble containing verses from the Quran, & on both sides of this inscription, there are carved verses from the Shirazi poet "Asoudeh" about founder of this garden & the date of its construction.
خانهٔ قوام یا باغ نارنجستان قوام در شیراز: در دورهٔ قاجار محل اقامت حاکم شیراز بود. این عمارت توسط چند نسل از خاندان قوام پی‌ریزی، احداث و تکمیل شد. لقب «نارنجستان» هم از درختان نارنج حیاط این عمارت می‌آید.
در ورودی اصلی باغ رو به جنوب و به یک هشتی باز می‌شود. سر در ورودی دارای تزیینات آجرکاری زیبائی است. بر پیشانی در ورودی کتیبه‌ای از سنگ مرمر سرخ‌فام شامل آیاتی از قرآن است و در دو طرف این کتیبه ابیاتی از آسوده شاعر شیرازی دربارهٔ بانی باغ و تاریخ احداث آن حجاری شده‌است.

Iranians have been using Korsi to be warm in their homes during winters since ancient times.
Korsi is a short table under which a brazier full of charcoal was placed to create heat, and a very large quilt was thrown over the table to prevent heat loss.
RuKorsi was a cloth that was thrown over the quilt to protect it from food stains. Recently, the Japanese have registered the ancient Iranians’ Korsi under their name.
از قدیم‌الایام ایرانی‌ها برای گرم‌شدن در زمستان در خانه‌ها از کرسی استفاده می‌کنند.
کرسی میزی کوتاه است که در زیر آن برای ایجاد گرما منقلی پُر از زغال قرار می‌دادند و برای جلوگیری از هدررفت گرما روی میز لحاف بسیار بزرگی می‌انداختند.
روکرسی پارچه‌ای بود که روی لحاف کرسی می‌انداختند تا لکه‌های موادغذایی بر روی لحاف نریزد. به‌تازگی ژاپنی‌ها حق امتیاز کرسی ایرانیان باستان را به نام خود ثبت کرده‌اند.

Yalda night ceremony is one of the oldest Iranian traditions in which the sunrise after the longest night of the year is celebrated as a symbol for victory of light over darkness. Yalda starts from sunset of the last day of autumn, until sunrise of the next day. On this night, family members sit around a table of special fruits & nuts, each having a symbolic meaning & read poems of Hafiz. Yalda in Iran is an ancient tradition that has been passed down to the present generation.
آئین شب یلدا از کهن‌ترین جشن‌های ایرانی‌ست که در ارتباط با رویدادهای کیهانی بوده و در آن طلوع خورشید پس از بلندترین شب سال، به‌عنوان نمادی از پیروزی نور بر تاریکی، جشن گرفته می‌شود. یلدا غروب روز ۳۰ آذر (آخرین غروب پاییز) تا طلوع آفتاب روز بعد یعنی اول دی‌ماه را شامل می‌شود. در این شب افراد خانواده سفره‌ای از میوه‌ها و آجیل‌های مخصوص که جنبه‌ای نمادین دارند، برپا کرده و حافظ می‌خوانند. یلدا در ایران یکی از فرهنگ‌های دیرینه است که سینه‌به‌سینه به نسل حاضر منتقل شده.

Prof. Sayyed Mahmoud Hasabi (1902-1992) was a physicist, senator & one of the ministers of culture during the Pahlavi dynasty, the founder of physics & engineering in universities in Iran.
Mahmoud Hasabi was fluent in Arabic, English, French & German languages. He has used Sanskrit, Latin, Pahlavi, Greek, Italian, Russian & Turkish languages in his studies & researches. Dr. Hasabi received the title of "Prominent Professor of Tehran University" in 1960. In 1975, at the Congress of 60-Years of Physics in Iran, which was held in honor of him, his services were appreciated as the father of physics in Iran. Mahmoud Hasabi also received the French Legion of Honor from French state.
پروفسور سید محمود حسابی (۱۳۷۱-۱۲۸۱) فیزیک‌دان، سناتور و یکی از وزیران فرهنگ در زمان سلطنت پهلوی، بنیان‌گذار فیزیک و مهندسی در سطح دانشگاه در ایران بود.
محمود حسابی به زبان‌های عربی، انگلیسی، فرانسوی و آلمانی تسلط کامل داشت. او در مطالعات و پژوهش‌های خود از زبان‌های سانسکریت، لاتین، پهلوی یونانی، ایتالیایی، روسی و ترکی استفاده کرده است. دکتر حسابی در سال ۱۳۴۹ عنوان "استاد برجسته دانشگاه تهران" را دریافت کرد. در سال ۱۳۶۶ در کنگره ۶۰ سال فیزیک ایران که به مناسبت بزرگداشت ایشان برگزار شد از خدمات وی به عنوان پدر فیزیک ایران قدردانی شد. محمود حسابی همچنین نشان لژیون دونور فرانسه را از کشور فرانسه دریافت کرد.
