Turn Off Notifications for Individual Contacts Telegram offers a few other handy options in chats. You can delete any message by long-pressing it, then hitting the Trash icon that appears. When you turn on that feature, the app automatically switches to dark mode. Go to Settings > Chat Settings and toggle on Auto-Night Mode. Locate users near you If you want to add a second number instead of migrating, Telegram also lets you use multiple accounts at once. For Android, on the left sidebar, tap your contact info to expand the account switcher and choose Add Account. On iPhone, tap Edit on the profile page and choose Add Another Account. Now tap on Notifications and mute the contact for either a custom period of time or forever. I generally leave it for forever.

To lock your messages, go to “Settings”, “Privacy and Security” and tap on “Passcode Lock”. You will be asked to set a four-digit passcode and confirm it. Once you do that, you will find additional options to “unlock the app with fingerprint” and “auto-lock” it after a specific duration. If you don’t want messages in your secret chats to hang around forever, Telegram lets you set self-destruct timers to permanently remove them. After a message is received, it remains in the chat for a predetermined period — you can choose times between one second and one week – before disappearing. Next up, tap “Mute for” in the menu and then choose the desired mute duration in the pop-up menu. If you want to choose a custom date and time, tap Mute until and then set the date and time.
