✅Barua unfurled the Tricolour at Gohpur police station in 1942. When police did not let them move forward, an altercation led to firing, killing Barua.
✅ In 2020, the Coast Guard named a Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) after her, the ICGS Kanaklata Barua.

🔆 Sursingar and Joydeep Mukherjee
✅ A stringed musical instrument that is similar to the sarod, but which is older and produces deeper notes.
✅ Rarely used in performances.
✅ Made of wood and has a gourd attached to a hollow wooden handle with a metal fingerboard.
✅ The strings of the instrument, usually four in number and made of brass or bronze,are plucked with a metal pick.
✅ It can be played either holding it vertically in front of the musician and supported by his left shoulder like the Veena, or holding it parallel to the ground like the Sarod, or like the Sitar, which is held at an angle of 50-60 degrees to the ground.
✅ The Sursingar (along with the Rudra Veena and the Surbahar) usually accompanies Dhrupad, the genre of Hindustani vocal music which has a low, deep, and thoughtful pitch.
✅ Kolkata-based multi-instrumentalist Joydeep (Ustad Bismillah Khan Award) is credited with reviving the Sursingar, along with another lost stringed instrument.

🔆 MATANGINI HAZRA
✅Born in West Bengal in 1869, was influenced by Gandhiji’s beliefs and earned the name “Gandhi Buri” (the old Gandhian woman).
✅ In 1905, she became actively involved in the Indian independence struggle and was
arrested for taking part in the Civil Disobedience Movement in 1930.
✅She led a march during the Quit India movement of 1942, to take over the Tamluk police station from British authorities and fell to the British bullets at the age of 73.
✅ She was the first woman revolutionary to have her statue erected in the Kolkata Maidan in 1977.

✅ Unlike an FIR, which is restricted by jurisdiction, a zero FIR can be filed in any police station, regardless of whether the offence was committed under the jurisdiction of that particular police station.
✅ Whereas FIRs have serial numbers assigned to them, zero FIRs are assigned the number ‘0’. Hence the name, Zero FIR.
✅ After a police station registers a zero FIR, it has to transfer the complaint to a police station that has the jurisdiction to investigate the alleged offence.
✅ Once a zero FIR is transferred, the police station with the appropriate jurisdiction assigned it a serial number, thereby converting it into a regular FIR.
