β RRBs were established on October 2, 1975, following the recommendations of the Narasimham Committee on Rural Credit.
β Regulation: RRBs are regulated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and are governed by the Regional Rural Banks Act, 1976.
β Ownership: The ownership structure of RRBs is shared among the Government of India (50%), the concerned State Government (15%), and the sponsoring bank (35%).
πΈAll public sector banks, except Punjab & Sind Bank, sponsor one or more RRBs.
πΈ J&K Bank is the only private sector bank that sponsors an RRB.
