🏆 T4

🎤Hello everyone, we just finished the third day of Baja TT Norte Portugal, I'm really happy we won the T4 category with a good gap for the 2nd place. It's a really nice result for me and for the team, the car was perfect all the weekend, so really happy with that. Unfortunately, we were in the pipe for the podium overall, but unfortunately today things didn't go really well and we lost some time for the 3rd place. But we still got a 4th place overall, that is a very good result for me with the T4. The team is really happy, I'm really happy, the car is super. We just have 2 T1 Plus in front of us and 1 T3, so it's a good result. So really happy, I want to thank everyone who supports me, thank you so much.
David Vieira, manager of Santag Racing:

🎤Very pleased with the results we achieved, with all our drivers performing at an excellent level. João Dias won, Marco once again proved to be one of the most competitives in T3, Armindo Araújo, if not for the punctures, would have been in the top positions again, and Rui Serpa added another podium. We can only be satisfied with what we've accomplished, which is the result of a lot of hard work, not just over these three days, but in all the preparation we do with our drivers and cars, and they delivered these results in the end. When we started the race, we said we wanted to repeat the good results from last Baja. We leave with a sense of mission accomplished,

João Dias:

🎤 It was a smart race where the main goal was to win T3, and we did it. We had a small setback but overcame it, secured third place overall, and earned very important points for the CPTT, keeping us in the lead. I'm very pleased with all the work João Miranda did, as well as the entire Santag Racing team.

Marco Pereira
🎤We managed to maintain a good pace throughout all the Selective Sectors, always giving our best and managing our position in the standings. Adding another podium here is very good for us.

Rui Serpa:

🎤It was a positive race where we were very competitive in the second half. We fought hard to be among the leaders, missing second place by just 1.9 seconds, but it shows our determination. The Santag Racing team gave us a perfect car, and Rui Pita was excellent in navigation. We're satisfied with another podium, rewarding all our efforts over the weekend.

Ramos and Carvalho win a thrilling race at the Baja TT Norte de Portugal

This year each round of the Campeonato Portugal de Todo-o-terreno is more interesting and unpredictable than the last! Last weekend’s Baja TT Norte de Portugal (fourth round of the Portuguese championship) provided plenty of surprises.

The FIA World Motor Sport Council convened for its second meeting of 2024. The meeting was chaired by President Mohammed Ben Sulayem with FIA Deputy President for Sport Robert Reid and WMSC members joining in person at the 2024 FIA Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, and via video conference.

Following the approval of the Cross-Country Rally Sustainability Roadmap by the World Motor Sport Council in December 2023, the FIA World Rally-Raid Regulations were updated to include the requirement for manufacturers and event organisers to adhere the FIA Environmental Programme, which sets a compulsory two-star level of Accreditation when entering the championship and three-star from 2027.

The criteria defining the start order selection after the prologue have been revised to allow the top ten of the leading group, which will include all Platinum and Gold drivers with Ultimate cars, from the Prologue classification to choose their start position for Stage 1, with the fastest driver being the last to choose his position within the leading group. The aim of this proposal is to prevent unsporting tactics and increase the interest in the start order selection process.

A Power Selective Section will be implemented into event itineraries, optionally in 2025 and with mandatory application from 2026, with the intention to replicate the success of the WRC and ERC Power Stage in rally and provide to the Promoter and organisers an opportunity for live broadcast and increased exposure.

To improve competitors’ safety, particularly in dune stages, W2RC cars in the Ultimate, Challenger, SSV and Stock groups will have to be fitted with a red/orange reflective flag displayed at least 2 meters above the roof, where indicated in the supplementary regulations of W2RC and Baja events. Difficult overtaking zones, where crews are not allowed to request the preceding vehicle to give way, will also be specified in the road books to avoid dangerous manoeuvres or the unfair application of penalties.

On the side of promotion, W2RC drivers will be able to choose a permanent race number, with the numbers 200, 300 and 400 reserved for the reigning World, Challenger and SSV Champions respectively.
As for the W2RC Regulations, the Cross-Country Rally Regulations were also revised to include adherence to the the FIA Environmental programme. The two-star level of Environmental Accreditation will be compulsory for World Baja Cup organisers when entering the championship, and three-star from 2027. Two-star will be compulsory from 2026 and three-star from 2028 for Regional Baja Cups.
As part of the proposals submitted by the Road Sport Committee, a new, less restrictive set of technical regulations for the Stock group – the former T2 – will allow manufacturers to homologate cross-country vehicles based on modern 4WD standard vehicles, modified to increase their capability and reliability, with a controlled budget for the customers.
With the direction given by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, revised technical regulations were also approved for the SSVs – formerly T4 – with the aim to come back to less transformed and more affordable vehicles compared to the current competition cars and to offer a genuinely accessible access class.
A number of changes to the 2024 sporting calendars have been approved by the World Motor Sport Council when it convened in Samarkand today, Tuesday 11 June, or earlier this year by e-vote.

Updates to the 2024 calendars of the FIA World and Middle East Baja Cups were approved.
On each W2RC rally, it will be recommended to run one selective section called a ‘Power Selective Section’ with the purpose of enhancing live broadcast (mandatory from 2026). Principles are quite similar to what’s in place in WRC/ERC: should be the last SS of the rally, run for all competitors and be representative of the rally with a 5 to 30 km length. Bonus points will be awarded to the top 3 in each Championship (except Manufacturers).
David Castera, Rallye du Maroc Race Director:

🎙This year's route will take us back to the basics of the Rallye du Maroc. Thanks to the Chegaga and Merzouga dunes, where the car and bike routes will be split, but also thanks to the care we've taken in selecting tracks that combine driving pleasure and safety. The 100% bivouac profile frees us from the logistical constraints of accommodation and leaves us free to focus 100% on sport, our absolute priority. Stages 4 and 5 will be a good example of this, as they will enable us to discover new, more remote areas, where navigation will be of primary importance, with numerous tracks that are not easy to see and which will require competitors to follow compass headings, just like on the Saudi Dakar. In fact, the road book will be written in the same vein as next January's event, which I know many people come to prepare for every year on the Rallye du Maroc, the second biggest rally in the world".
