Trading seconds all the way to Córdoba.pdf

Press Release: Trailing Yazeed Al Rajhi by 2′21″ in the overall standings this morning, Nasser Al Attiyah pulled out all the stops in the stage that everyone knew would be decisive before tomorrow's traditionally shorter return to Córdoba. By the end of the special, the Hunter factory driver had done more than just make up his deficit, as the Qatari put 3′08″ into his rival in the Hilux, building up a 47-second lead in the overall on the eve of the finish. However, his advantage turned into a deficit at the bivouac after the Qatari collected a penalty for failing to secure his crew safety equipment in accordance with the regulations. As a result, Al Rajhi held on to his lead by 13 seconds over the reigning champion. Al Attiyah faces the unenviable task of opening the road tomorrow ahead of the Saudi. Lucas Moraes (Toyota Gazoo Racing), third overall this morning, stopped at km 81 with a mechanical issue and dropped over an hour. Sebastián Halpern (X-Raid Mini JCW) pounced on the opening to claim third on the day in Ultimate and move up to that same position overall. The Argentinian has nearly 16 minutes in hand over his closest rival, Denis Krotov (Overdrive Racing).

In Challenger, Rokas Baciuška prevailed over his main championship rival, with Nicolás Cavigliasso 3′28″ adrift of the Lithuanian. Dania Akeel placed her Taurus BBR third on the day, 5′21″ back. Overall, the Can-Am Factory driver extended his lead to 9′23″ over the Argentinian, while the Saudi made a great move by overhauling her Brazilian teammate Marcelo Gastaldi for third, although by only 45 seconds.

In SSV, Ricardo Ramilo saw his main threat for the win evaporate when Enrico Gaspari (TH-Trucks), a little over 4 minutes behind the Spaniard overall this morning, was hit by a mechanical and exited the special. Sebastián Guayasamín (BE Racing) also had an off day, shipping 11′25″ to the stage winner. Rebecca Busi avoided mistakes and scored her best result of the week.

🎤Hi everyone, we just finished right now the prologue. We are here in Baja de Norte, Portugal. We were 6th fastest overall and 1st position in our category, in T4. The car is ok, the stage was very fun and I would say that it's a perfect stage for me because I loved it a lot. It's very technical with some jumps and very high speed. For the T1+, obviously, this probably was better. But we were fast. We are okay in first position. So, tomorrow we have a lot of kilometers. So, stay together.

🎤The rally in Ruta 40 in Argentina was very, very nice. All the stages are very difficult for navigation, but Ronnie did a very good job. Finally, we're finishing the podium with the Mini T1 Plus. The Mini was perfect, no problem in all the races, so we are happy with this. And we did a very, very good job with all the teams, so we are happy with the results and see you in the next race.

🎤Okay, that's it. We're done here in Ruta 40. I had an amazing week with BBR. It was a very interesting race. We learned a lot. The car was perfect. Minor issues, nothing serious. And I worked a lot on my driving, on my speed, on my technique. And I was happy to see the numbers, let's say, as the week progressed. And I hope that we take this experience to the next race and work harder to reach the front. And I'm very happy with the podium finish, P3.

🎤It was a good race, here in Argentina I have run like four years ago. It's a good stage, good car, good team. All the days the car is perfect. We should make a better result but we are fine with the the way that we do. So, thank you BBR, and Loïc, and all the team, all the support, and see you in Morocco.

🎤Hi guys, welcome back to Cordoba. We just finished the Ruta 40 2024. It was an intense race, it was a good week. We had two stage wins, lost some speed in the beginning of the race, but we came back in the harder stages. The car showed its worth, we're happy with the car and the general performance of our drivers, so it was an interesting week. Let's get ready for Morocco during the summer and do some testing and hopefully come back stronger in Oktober.

Press Release

Yazeed Al Rajhi claimed the final special at the buzzer. The Saudi finished 27 seconds ahead of Nasser Al Attiyah and took victory in the twelfth Desafío Ruta 40 YPF INFINIA by 40 seconds over the Qatari. The Overdrive Racing driver bagged his first win in Argentina and his first triumph of the 2024 world championship, picking up stages 1 and 5 along the way. The difference between the two-time world champion and his runner-up has narrowed to 25 points. Just three crews remain in contention for the top FIA prize after the fourth round.

Rokas Baciuška claimed his second consecutive win, after Portugal, on his first Ruta 40 try in the Challenger class. The Lithuanian had a shot at securing his third title in a row before the last round, but Nicolás Cavigliasso fought back on home turf and finished 8′49″ back, which puts him 44 points behind the championship leader. Dania Akeel climbed onto the podium in Córdoba, edging out her teammate Marcelo Gastaldi, who is now third in the W2RC, an insurmountable 79 points behind the leader.

In SSVs, Yasir Seaidan was forced to retire from the race due to a failing turbo in a repeat of his nightmare scenario in Portugal. The Saudi got off to a blistering start to the season, winning the Dakar and ADDC, but now he has gone empty-handed twice in a row. When Seaidan was away, Ricardo Ramilo, Enrico Gaspari (TH-Trucks), Sebastián Guayasamín, and Rebecca Busi came out to play. The Spaniard came out on top, followed by the Ecuadorian and Busi, while the other Italian succumbed to a mechanical. Guayasamín is the new championship leader with a mere 6 points in hand over the Saudi and 20 over Ramilo. Busi and Gaspari round out the top 5.

Hello everyone, we just finished the second day of the Baja da Norte Portugal. Today is a special day because we just won the second stage overall against T3 and T1+. So we won the second stage by 5 seconds. It was really great to see this result in the hand, because we pushed a lot and we have been working a lot for this. I never imagined that this would be possible, but today we pushed really a lot, amazingly, on the second stage.

It was really good. On the first stage, we were the third fastest overall and the fastest in our category.

The car really is amazing, a bullet. So I'm really happy with this second day, the car is perfect, the team is working a lot. We pushed too much today, but everything is good. So for tomorrow we have another kilometers, so let's try to keep the second place overall, because the first place in the T4 category is solid and it's safe. So now we have to keep focused and not have punctures or any mechanical problem, but I believe, so let's stay together. Thank you so much.
