🖥Lender of Last Resort


An institution that provides money to banks or financial institutions in times of emergency.

As the name suggests, this happens when they run out of money and can not arrange it from elsewhere.

Usually, a country's central bank is the lender of last resort (Ex RBI in India, US Fed in the USA, etc).

This might prevent the entire financial system from collapsing and help keep the economy stable when things go wrong.
