📣The Command to Fast & The Virtue of Ramadan and the Qur'an
🔰 Part - 1
💠Imâm Ibn Kathîr | Tafsir Ibn Kathîr
💥 Surah al-Baqarah
💠"O' you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may acquire Taqwa.
💢 Fast for a fixed number of days, but if any of you is ill or on a journey, the same number (should be made up) from other days. And as for those who can fast with difficulty, (e.g., an old man), they have (a choice either to fast or) to feed a Miskin (poor person) (for every day). But whoever does good of his own accord, it is better for him. And that you fast is better for you if only you know.
💎 The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan, i.e., is present at his home), he must observe sawm (fasting) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe sawm (fasting) must be made up) from other days.
*️⃣ Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allah [i.e., to say Takbir (Allahu Akbar: Allah is the Most Great)) for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him. [Surat al-Baqarah C. 2 A. 83-85]
📣 The Order to Fast
💢 In an address to the believers of this Ummah, Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) ordered them to fast, that is, to abstain from food, drink and sexual activity with the intention of doing so sincerely for Allah the Exalted alone.
💠 This is because fasting purifies the souls and cleanses them from the evil that might mix with them and their ill behavior. Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) mentioned that He has ordained fasting for Muslims just as He ordained it for those before them, they being an example for them in that, so they should vigorously perform this obligation more obediently than the previous nations.
Similarly, Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) said:
💠 "To each among you, We have prescribed a law and a clear way. If Allah had willed, He would have made you one nation, but that (He) may test you in what He has given you; so compete in good deeds." [C.5 : A.48]
🔰Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) said in this Ayah:
💠 "O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may have Taqwa)
💥Since the fast cleanses the body and narrows the paths of Shaytan. In the Sahihayn the following Hadith was recorded:
📣"O young people! Whoever amongst you can afford marriage, let him marry. Whoever cannot afford it, let him fast, for it will be a shield for him.
[Fath Al-Bari 9:8, and Muslim 2:1018]
‼️Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) then states that the fast occurs during a fixed number of days, so that it does not become hard on the hearts, thereby weakening their resolve and endurance.

‼️Eating to Fast [not Fasting to Eat]:
🔰It is reported that once, some good food was served to Anas [Ibn Mālik] – Allāh be pleased with him, and [the person who served the food] was well off enough to afford good food. As he was eating, he kept a morsel of the food in his mouth for a while, then looked at the people and began to cry.
💢 Then he said, “By Allāh, I have accompanied people who, if they could get hold of this kind of food, would have fasted even more often, and spent less time not fasting.
‼️One of them would find only milk mixed with water [as food], which he would drink and then fast on.”
[Al-Mu’āfā b. ‘Imrān, Kitāb Al-Zuhd article 215]
🎤let's count the enormous blessings from Allah subhanahu wa taala during the month of Ramadan, Alhamdulillah many of us provided good provisions yet we show our gratitude to Allah very little!

🔰Among the causes of having worries disappear and sins forgiven is sending ṣalāh (supplications for peace) upon the Prophet ﷺ, and the effect of sending ṣalāh upon him on Friday is greatest.
💠Ubayy ibn Kaʻb, may Allah be pleased with him, said,
🔰"O Messenger of Allah, I frequently invoke the blessings of Allah upon you. How much of my supplications should I devote to you?"
💢He, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said, "Whatever you wish." I said, "A quarter?" He said, "Whatever you wish, and if you do more, it is better for you." I said, "One half?" He said, "Whatever you wish, and if you do more, it is better for you." I said, "Two thirds?" He said, "Whatever you wish, and if you do more, it is better for you." I said, "Shall I devote all my supplication to (invoking blessings upon) you?"
💥He said, "Then, you will be freed from your worry and your sin will be forgiven."
[At-Tirmithi: good-authentic; Al-Haakim in Al-Mustadrak]
💠Anas bin Maalik (radhi Allaahu anhu) said: Verily the Prophet (salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said:
💥Whoever sends Salah upon me once Allah will send ten (blessings) upon him and remove ten of his sins and raise his rank by ten levels.
[Imam Ahmad in his Musnad, Imam Bukharee in Adabul Mufrad #642 and #643. Jami Sagheer #6359 authenticated by Al Abaanee]
💠“Truly Allah and His angels say Salah on the Prophet, O you believers, recite Salah on him and send Salam on him completely.” [Al-Ahzab | C.33: A.56]
💠 Ibn Abbas (Rady'Allahu anhu) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said,
‼️"Whoever forgets to send blessings upon me, he has missed a path to Paradise."

💠Fazr Salat on Friday💠
💎It was narrated by Ibn ‘Umar (Rady'Allahu Anhu): The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) said:
💠‼️“The best prayer before Allaah is Fajr prayer on Friday in congregation"‼️
[al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab al-Eemaan]
🌷Sending Salah upon the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihe wa sallam 🌷
💠Sending ṣalāh upon the Prophet ﷺ on Friday is better than on the rest of the days, and its night (Thursday night) is the best of nights. He ﷺ said,
🌷“Among the best of your days is Friday, so frequently send ṣalāh upon me therein.”
💠The crown of all adhkār on Friday is sending ṣalāh (supplications for peace) upon the Prophet ﷺ. Those who mention it the most are those most mentioned in the heavens (by the angels) and those with the most tranquility on earth.

💠A Sermon of `Abdullah Ibn Mas`ood (may Allah be pleased with him)
💢Abu Nu`aim
💢Hilyat al-Awliyaa'
💠Amr ibn Thabit narrated that `Abdullah ibn Mas`ood (Rady'Allahu anhu) said in one of his sermons:
‼️"Surely the most truthful speech is that of the Qur'an, the Book of Allah; and the best of covenants and bonds are an expression of piety; the best of persuasions is that of Ibraahim `alayhis salam, and the best of traditions are those of Muhammad sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam.
💢The most noble and exalted of speeches and conversations is to talk about Allah the Most High; the best and most truthful of stories are told in the Qur'an; the worth of a good deed will show at the end, and the most evil of deeds are innovations; to have less of what satisfies one's needs is better than to have aplenty one cannot compass or control;
💢the worst self-blaming (nafsu lawwaama) is sorrow when death comes to seize the person, and the worst grief is to have regret on the Day of Judgment; the worst of aberration is to stray from Allah's path after receiving His guidance;
💥true prosperity is to have satisfaction and contentment; the best provision for the hereafter is piety;
🔥suspicion is a branch of apostasy; the worst blindness is that of the heart; wine is the source of every evil; the temptation about women is the rope of Satan; teenage heralds the growing up of arrogance and folly; mourning losses is a pagan act;
‼️some people come late to the Friday's congregational prayers, dragging their feet, and they speak of Allah the Most High illusively. In fact, to lie is the greatest sin; to insult a believer is an act of insolence; and to fight a believer is apostasy.
💠The sanctity of the property of a believer is as sacred as his life; one who pardons the sins of others, Allah will forgive him his sins, and one who swallows his anger, Allah will reward him, one who forgives others, Allah will forgive him, and one who bears his adversity, Allah will reward him aplenty.
🔥The most evil of earnings is money made of usury and accumulation of interest; the worst of food is to eat up the inheritance of orphan. The luckiest of people is one who takes heed of the reason behind others' misfortunes; and the unlucky is thus conceived in the womb of his mother.
💢Sufficient for you is what satisfies your basic needs; surely the lag of one's journey will culminate in a grave six linear feet long; one's real goal will eventually be seen at the end, - and truth will surely manifest at the end.
‼️The results of one's actions will expose his initial intention; the worst story is a lie;
💥the best death is that of a martyr; one who knows the value of adversities will bear them, and one who does not understand that will question the reason behind them.
♨️Allah the Most High will surely bring an arrogant person to humiliation. Whosoever vies to capture the world will reach a dead end, and whosoever obeys Satan would have disobeyed Allah the Most High, and finally, whosoever disobeys Allah the Most High will be punished in hell-fire."

🔥🔰SINNING WHILE FASTING [DOES IT BREAK THE FAST?]🔰🔥
❖❐ It is reported that ‘Umar – (Rady'Allahu Anhu) – said:
❐
❐ It is reported that Ibrâhîm Al-Nakha’î – (rahimahuAllah) [one of the teacher of Imam Abu Hanifah] – said:
❐
❐ It is reported that Mujâhid – (rahimahuAllah) – said:
❐ 'There are two practices, if a person can keep himself from them, his fast will be secured for him: backbiting and lying.'
❐ It is related that Abul-‘Âliyah – (rahimahullah) – said:
❐' The fasting person is in a state of worship as long as he does not backbite.'
[Ibn Abî Al-Shaybah, Al-Musannaf articles 8975, 8980, 8981 and 8982]
❖❐ It is reported that Hafsah bint Sîrîn – Allâh have mercy on her – said:
❐ 'Fasting is a shield as long as one does not tear it, and tearing it is when you backbite.'
[Abd Al-Razzâq Al-San’ânî, Al-Musannaf articles 8975]
❐ It is reported that Anas b. Mâlik – (Rady'Allahu Anhu) – said:
❐ 'If the fasting person backbites, his fast is broken.'
[Hunâd b. Al-Saree, Al-Zuhd article 1204]
❖ Notes:
❐ Explaining the meaning of sins breaking the fast, Shaykh Al-Islâm Ibn Taymîyah – (rahimahuAllah) – states:
❖❐ It is related from some of the Salaf that backbiting, tale carrying and the likes break the fast, and it is mentioned as one opinion in the madhab of Imâm Ahmad. The final word on this issue is that Allâh (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) commanded people to fast in order to achieve piety (taqwâ), and Allâh’s Messenger – (Sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) – stated:
❐ "Whoever does not leave off false speech and acting by it; then Allâh is not in need of him abandoning his food and drink." [Bukhari]
❐ So if the fasting person does not achieve piety, he has not achieved what is intended through fasting, and so the reward of [his] fast will decrease in accordance [with how much he has gone against the intended goal, i.e. commensurate with his sins].
❐ Righteous deeds have two intended goals: gaining reward and avoiding punishment. If a person fasts while also doing forbidden things, like backbiting, carrying tales between people or consuming what is forbidden and so on, he loses the reward.
❐ Thus, when the imams say [backbiting etc.] does not break the fast, it means that the person who sins is not punished in the way a person who openly breaks his fast would be punished.
❐ And those who said it does break the fast in the sense that the person has not achieved the intended goal behind fasting, or in the sense that he has lost the reward for fasting, then this statement is in agreement with the position of the imams.
❐ One who says it breaks the fast in the sense that the person is to be punished for leaving [the fast], then he is in contradiction to the imams.
❖ Conclusion:
❐ A person who disobeys Allâh (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) while fasting hasn’t truly grasped the intent behind fasting. The real goal is to achieve piety and obedience of Allâh (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) through the abandonment of food, drink and sin.
❐ Although a person who backbites, lies or does other sins is not considered to have physically broken his fast, he loses the reward of fasting and in this sense he has broken his fast.
🛡️Allâh knows best.
❖❐ It is reported that ‘Umar – (Rady'Allahu Anhu) – said:
❐
Fasting does not mean keeping away from only food and drink, it also means keeping away from lying, falsehood, inanity (senseless) and swearing [by Allâh without need].
❐ It is reported that Ibrâhîm Al-Nakha’î – (rahimahuAllah) [one of the teacher of Imam Abu Hanifah] – said:
❐
They used to say: lying breaks the fast.
❐ It is reported that Mujâhid – (rahimahuAllah) – said:

📚💠ADVICE OF IBN AL JAWZI (RAHIMAHU'ALLAH) FOR US ON THIS MONTH OF RAMADAN💠📚
🎲💎Ibn al Jawzi (rahimahullah):
❖❐ “… Where are those who fast and where are those who pray by night?
❐ Where are those who obey their Lord and where are those who work righteousness?
❐ Where are those who are foremost and where are are the humble ones?
❐ Where are those who remember (their Lord) and where are those devoted to Him Where are the truthful and where are the patient?
❐ Where are the charity givers? Where are those who enjoin good, who save the troubled ones and who forbid the wrong?
❐ Where are those who heed contemplation and who listen to good advice and life-lessons?
💠 By Allah, they have indeed gone with the Salihin (righteous), returned with the Mu’minin (believers), settled with the Anbiya’ (Prophets) and taken residence with the Siddiqin (truthful ones).
🔰But us, we remain behind with the ignorant, have settled with the wrong doers and have taken the heedless as our guides…!
❐ Fasting is the shield of nations, protecting from the Hell fire, And fasting is a fortress for whoever fears that fire!
❐ Fasting is a covering for all the people of goodness Those who fear the burden of blame and sinfulness
❐ And this month is the month of the Lord of the Throne
❐ A Most Merciful Lord, Who conceals the heavy sins & burdens
❐ So therein have fasted men who thus profited
Their reward lies with the Exalted and Forgiving One
❐ And so they came to settle in Everlasting Gardens, Surrounded by maidens, and rivers and plantations…!
❐ So glad tidings to those who obey the Most Merciful King in this month of Mercy, this month of Ramadan.
❐ They bore patience over a few days, and thus long-lasting mercy and abundant blessings came after them and pursued them.
❐ Every time you do good in this month, you shall be rewarded for the rest of your life because righteousness is a habit and evilness is mere stubbornness.
❐ Where are you O’ fasting one, who prays by night? Come forth to goodness and you shall triumph with everlasting happiness!
❐ Trade with your Lord and you shall profit, work with Him and you shall be successful, apologise and He shall accept your apology, seek His forgiveness and He shall forgive your sins, draw close to Him and He shall alleviate your suffering, ask Him from His Bounties and He shall expand your provisions, repent to Him and He shall increase your portion (in life).
❐ O my dear brother, in this month all faults and mistakes are concealed, all souls and hearts are softened, sins and burdens are forgiven, and Allah `azza wa jall relieves every sad and troubled one. He says to His angels, ‘O My Angels, look at those dry tongues, how they become moist with My Remembrance.
❐ Look at those hard eyes, how they soften and weep out of fear of Me, and look at those delicate feet planted firmly at the stations of prayer out of desire for Me!’
❐ O my dear brother, whenever you give food to others in this month for the Sake of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, you shall be raised to high ranks in the lofty grounds of Paradise, and you will be clothed with complete goodness and stripped of all sin…”
