A dangling modifier happens when the opening phrase describes an action,
but the subject that comes after the comma is NOT the one doing that action.
Result? The sentence becomes illogical or accidentally funny.
A Rule
The subject after the comma must be the one performing the action in the opening phrase.
If the subject cannot logically do that action β itβs a dangling modifier.
β Wrong (Dangling)
Walking to school, the rain started.
βοΈ Correct
Walking to school, I felt the rain start.
β Wrong
Having studied all night, the exam was easy.
βοΈ Correct
Having studied all night, I found the exam easy.
