What's the real difference between a review paper and a research one?

🔎 Research papers
💡 Presents new findings from original research conducted by the authors
Opportunity to generate new knowledge and advance the field
builds research skills and experience
can lead to conference presentations/proceedings
⛔️ Requires conducting extensive original research which can be resource and time intensive
⛔️ has high bar for acceptance in top journals

📚 Review Papers
💡 Summarises and synthesises the existing literature on a topic
Demonstrates breadth of knowledge on a topic
allows for critique and evaluation of existing literature
may be easier for early career researchers
⛔️ Less opportunity to contribute new findings
⛔️ requires comprehensive understanding of the literature landscape on a topic

Is your empathy active or passive?

Every day, we face moments that test how we react to others' situations. It's one thing to feel sorry for someone; it's another to truly understand their struggles. The difference between 'pity,' 'sympathy,' 'empathy,' and 'compassion' is subtle yet profound, shaping the way we connect with others.

Pity observes from afar, maintaining a safe distance from the actual sorrow. Sympathy draws us closer, allowing us to share in the grief. Empathy takes us deeper, challenging us to imagine living through the distress ourselves. But there’s a step beyond empathy that’s often overlooked: compassion.

Compassion encompasses more than just feeling; it incites a call to action. It’s not merely about understanding or sharing emotions but about being moved to alleviate someone else's suffering. This distinction is crucial in our personal and professional lives, influencing how we support those around us.

Of all the emotional intelligence dimensions, empathy is the most easily recognized.

Empathy means you understand the viewpoints, sense the emotions, and care about others.

For leaders, empathy in action helps to form the cornerstone of social awareness and high-trust relationship building.

Empathic leaders can relate well to their team, actively listen, and communicate in a way that resonates.

They make people feel seen, heard, understood, and valued.

The most effective leaders understand the three types of empathy and when to apply them:

𝐂𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞: understanding the perspectives of others.
𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥: understanding how others feel.
𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐧: caring about others and taking action to help them if needed.

We all face different situations in our day to day life.

Sometimes situations are challenging and sometimes we meet different people with different temperament. It's easy to lose patience and get agitated and thereby blaming the people or situation. But the more we show our reaction or get impulsive, situation starts worsening and we get affected mentally.

It is important to understand that situations, people are all outside factors. They will always behave the way they want to. Situation may be challenging at times. But we need to choose to stay calm and not get affected by other external factors.

Staying calm is a super power.

Let's develop the habit to stay calm and composed in every situation as your situation is nothing but your response is everything.

Your life is 10% what happens and 90%how we react to it.

Finding articles for your literature review? Using Boolean operators (OR/ AND/ NOT) will ensure that you don't miss important articles.

Boolean operators make your literature review search more precise and comprehensive.

They are universally accepted across literature search engines and databases (or can be easily translated to other search engines).

Here is a simple cheat sheet on how to use boolean operators.

🔸Each decision shapes our future🔸

"Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny." - Mahatma Gandhi

🚫How could you say that?🚫

Words are potent tools that possess the ability to shape perceptions, build bridges, or dismantle the strongest foundations.

Their impact goes beyond mere communication; they can inspire, uplift, and motivate, but conversely, they also have the potential to wound, sow discord, and inflict lasting damage.

The power of words lies in their ability to convey emotions, convey ideas, and influence the course of events.

Thoughtful and positive words have the potential to create a harmonious environment, fostering understanding and unity.

On the contrary, reckless or hurtful words can leave scars that linger, causing irreparable harm to relationships and individuals.

It is essential to recognize the weight of our words and use them with care, understanding that they have the potential to make or break the bonds that connect us.

Did you know that 71% of hiring managers value emotional intelligence over IQ?

Leadership is not just about being smart, it's also about understanding and managing emotions - yours and others.

In fact, research indicates that leaders with high emotional intelligence outperform those with high IQ 20% of the time.

So, how can you tell if a leader has emotional intelligence? Here are 4 signs to look out for:

1. They listen more than they speak: They're genuinely interested in what others have to say.

2. They handle criticism with grace: Instead of lashing out, they take it as an opportunity to grow.

3. They empathize: They can understand and share the feelings of others.

4. They praise others: They recognize and appreciate the efforts of their team.

A systematic review is a type of review that uses repeatable methods to find, select, and synthesize available evidence on a given topic.

It answers a clearly formulated research question and explicitly states the methods used to arrive at the answer.

This diagram provides a summary of the steps involved in conducting a systematic review:
