Med bara en vecka kvar till Midsommar har vi i dessa sommarmånader längre upp i norra delarna av Skandinavien ett fenomen som kallas Midnattssol. Solen går ej ned under horisonten och nätterna förblir mycket ljusa. Sommarsolståndet infaller på självaste midsommarafton i år och är den längsta och ljusaste dagen på året här i Skandinavien och Norden. Sommarsolståndet firas just genom vår uråldriga traditionella högtid Midsommar. Vår natur är nu som ymnigast och nätterna mycket ljusa, passa på att vara uppe lite längre och ta vara på dessa synnerligen magiska nätter!

Vi är ett folk av solen - Sunna. Vi har uråldriga traditioner som grundar sig i våra olika årstider och solens position, likt Sommarsolståndet (Midsommar) och den första fullmånen efter Vintersolståndet (Jul) som etablerades långt före...- fortsättning i kommentar nedan ⬇️

↟ Delsbostämman ↟

Delsbostämman is an annual outdoor fiddlers’ gathering that takes place today in the village of Delsbo in Hälsingland, Sweden. It is held every year on the first Sunday of July according to old tradition that goes far back in time.

Hundreds of 'spelmän' (fiddlers) both men and women, from across the country gathering to play traditional music dressed in their traditional folk costumes. Delsbostämman is one of Sweden's oldest fiddler meetings, and the music features accordions, flute, violins and the famous Swedish instrument Nyckelharpa, that dates back to the Middle Ages.

The gathering takes place at Delsbo Forngård, a Hälsinge farm with unique murals from the 18th century by Erik Ersson and Gustaf Reuter. Thanks to keeping this beautiful tradition alive, Delsbo Hembygdsförening is now having both Forngården and Bygdemuseet open...- continues in comment below ⬇️

↟ Lugnarohögen - The Lugnaro Mound ↟

Lugnarohögen is a Scandinavian burial site located deep within a mound, and is dated 3000 years back in time, to the Younger Bronze Age. The mound is located at Lugnaro, a cottage in Hasslöv, Halland in Sweden. Lugnaro roughly translates from Swedish to "calm and quiet".

In the middle of the mound, there is an 8 meter long stone ship, and this one in particular, is the first ship burial in a Bronze Age mound that was found here in Sweden. The ship of stone have a meaning to take the Hugr (intellect or memories) and the Hamr (emotional body) onward to the next life. The Litr (physical body) stays behind.

Next to the stone ship an urn was found with burnt human -and sheep bones with three small bronze objects to symbolize a safe passage to the other side: a dagger, a pair of tweezers and an awl from around 900-800 BC...- continues in comment below ⬇️

Scandinavia has a long history of traditional folk costumes. Back in the days each parish had their own design in the peasant society. There is about 840 different varieties of folk costumes just in Sweden, and the old tradition of folk costumes is slowly coming back again.

Hans Dahl was a Norweigan artist, known for his beautiful paintings of Norwegian landscapes and fjords. They were often painted together with portraits of young Norwegian women in traditional folk costumes.
