📘📕اعداد ترتیبی در انگلیسی.

📘📕Cardinal and ordinal numbers ..

✅اعداد در زبان انگلیسی به دو دسته تقسیم می شوند؛
اعداد اصلی (cardinal numbers) و اعداد ترتیبی(ordinal numbers).
همانطور که می دانید کاربرد اعداد اصلی تعیین تعداد است.اعداد یک، دو، سه، چهار… اعداد اصلی هستد. از سوی دیگر اعداد ترتیبی برای تعیین رتبه چیزی یا شخصی بکار می روند. البته اعداد ترتیبی برای موارد دیگری همچون نوشتن آدرس و تاریخ به انگلیسی نیز بکار می روند. اعدادی مثل یکم، دوم، سوم، چهارم… اعداد ترتیبی هستند.

📘📕در این پست لیستی از اعداد ترتیبی قرار داده شده اند که هم به صورت حروف هستند و هم اعداد:

❎We remained in a very good hotel.
✅We stayed in a very good hotel.

✅✅Remain

❎Not many figs have stayed on the tree.
✅Not many figs have remained on the tree.



📕Note: Here, to stay means to live for a short time as a guest or a visitor.

📘Note: To remain means to be left after part has been taken or destroyed.

📕Note: Use either verb when the meaning is to continue in the same place or condition.

✅Stay or remain at home till tomorrow. (Remain is more formal)

What time did you get

home last night?

Have you noticed something? When we're using those sentences and we're using home, we don't include the proposition TO.

❌ We all went to home.
❌ I wish you'd come to home.
❌ When will he return to home?
❌ What time did you get to home? 

We don't use the proposition TO with verb collocations with HOME.

✅ We all went home. 
✅ I wish he would come home. 
✅ When will he return home? 
✅ What time did you get home?

So we need to be really careful with that.

Instead, we can say:
✅ to return back home
✅ to go back home
✅ to get back home
✅ to come back home

You can say "back to the drawing board" when a plan or a design has failed, and you decide to begin all over again.

✅ HELP SOMEONE (to) DO SOMETHING

 

✅This means that you help ( = assist) someone (to) do something. This structure is most often used without ‘to’.

📕Examples:

✅Milk can help you fall asleep.

📘تفاوت while and when.

✅"In some sentences "Generally, if you want to focus on an action that has a duration being in progress," use a while + a progressive tense.

✅ما while را برای زمان حال ادامه دار استفاده میکنیم یعنی چیزی ک الان اتفاق میافتد ، ولی when را با زمان حال ساده ک اشاره به زمان نمیکند .‌

📕While I was washing the dishes, my wife came home.

📘وقتی داشتم ظرفها را می شستم همسرم آمد.

 📕So Washing the dishes has a duration, " and it's in a progressive way ..

📘" So we use when in a simple tense.: but while in continue tense "

✅"When it started to rain, we went inside.:
📕وقتی باران شروع شد ما رفتیم خانه .

✅ "So the action that started is short; it is not something in progress".

✅Use a Progressive Tense with While to Show Focus:"

✅"While I was cooking dinner, the phone rang.
📘وقتی داشتم آشپزی میکردیم تلفن زنگ زد .

✅We use while to focus on an action happening" at a specific time.: Therefore, the most natural verb tense to use" is a progressive tense, which shows " that an action is in progress at a certain time."
