Do we still need ABC tests of DTM? The main purpose of learning any language is communication, not grammar. Grammar is only a part of the process. Clear communication means that you are able to explain your message by writing or speaking to your listener. If DTM came up with innovative approach of testing, students would give more focus on communicative purposes, which is crucial in the globalized world, for their professional development. However, there are still thousands of students learning only grammar, doing only ABC tests for years just for university exams. This is diverting their attention from more important development - communicative competence. Isn't it time for DTM to get rid of ABC tests?
