In an interview for BBC, Dr. Elias Warrak, an ophthalmologist at Mount Lebanon University Hospital in Beirut, described the 24 hours that followed the Israeli pager explosion terrorist attack on Lebanon as a "nightmare".

Dr. Warrak further noted, “Unfortunately, we were not able to save a lot of eyes," where more than 60 to 70% of the patients ended up with at least one eye removed.

In some patients, "we had to remove both eyes. It kills me. In my past 25 years in practice, I’ve never removed as many eyes as I did yesterday,” Dr. Warrak added.
