"Look at what they've done to it now." In this episode of Only Fools and Horses, Uncle Albert stands at the Shadwell Basin (East London) and reflects upon the erasure of all he knew and loved. This scene cuts me to my core. This is exactly how I feel when I stand there, many other places in London, and, of course, Britain overall. Each generation seems to slip further from familiarity, normality, and even morality. Until, one day, there will be nothing left to recognise and no one left to recognise anything even if there was. Moments before this scene, Rodney had walked out of the Prospect of Whitby pub in Wapping, which is a few yards away. I could write about this scene all day, but in the end, it speaks for itself. "They were rough people. They were good people" 💔⏳️

I am oh so tired of seeing unnecessary misery in a world that's supposed to know better.
At least prisoners who've done something bad get to spend time with others. All this poor creature did was earn some sickos a few pound note just to rot like a mass murderer on a segregation unit.

Britain's pubs were never just places to drink, but a much needed excuse to be among one another. And of course, during many fascinating times in history. The public houses we still walk past today played their parts in everything from law to war. Join us for a walk and a few refreshments as we delve into the living museums of #Britain.
Prices: £20 per ticket (for over 18s),
16-18: £10
Under 16s: Free (If accompanied by a paying adult)
