Buildings that were built to bring people together are now upsetting reminders as to why we've drifted apart. #RIP The Hop Hole, 14 Gambia St, #London, #SE1 β°οΈ - @BritainsPubs

In our next pub/history #TOUR we will be visiting and discussing the long gone vegetable market of #CoventGarden that was once a thriving hub for London's working class. This video, whilst admitting its been there since the middle ages, makes corporate style excuses for moving the market in order to redevelop the area. Not once does he acknowledge that progress is not progress if it ruins togetherness. Luckily, the Piazza was saved, but the market and its atmosphere was replaced with the commercial hot-spot we know today. You can hear in the video that the people are upset that the market is being moved and the ones who think it's a good idea are yet to see the full might of modernism. On the 24th of May, we meet at 11am at #Holborn Station/The Shakespeare's Head next to it. See you there. π€π»
