Telegram is a free instant-app service founded by people behind VK, which is Russia’s biggest social networking site, primarily focused on speed and user privacy. Initially released in August 2013, the app has managed to get over 400 million monthly active users. You can take a new photo, upload an existing one, search the web for a new image, or remove your current photo. On the same page, Telegram also lists one of its two tenets of internet privacy as “protecting your personal data from third parties, such as marketers, advertisers, etc.” That puts it in stark contrast to a myriad of services from Facebook, Google, Amazon, and others.
To mute a chat in Telegram, head over to the chat in question. Next, tap the name at the top and then hit the mute button. Select the live location option and then select the time limit for which your location will be shared with the person. Now, all you need to do is hit that share button to share your live location. In order to protect your personal information, Telegram automatically terminates your old sessions after 6 months.
