These photos were taken by Sam Jacobs while he and his girlfriend were out playing the game Pokemon Go in August of 2016. The two were walking between Loveland Madeira Road and Lake Isabella in Loveland, Ohio, when they spotted the creature. Jacobs claims that this creature is what is known as the Loveland Frogman. He is very adamant about what he saw though many claim it to be a hoax. He estimates the animal stood at least four feet tall.

Jacobs wrote in an email about his sighting, “I realize this sounds crazy, but I swear on my grandmother's grave this is the truth”.

The pallid sailfin was seen on August 11th, 1934, by William Beebe during one of his bathysphere dives off the coast of Bermuda. Beebe saw the fish at a depth of 1,500 feet with his electric lights on so he could see it clearly. This illustration of the fish was drawn by Else Bostelmann. He classified it as being part of an "aberrant genus of flabby whalefish". He even gave it a scientific name: Bathyembryx istiophasma. Though, he did this with many of the fish he had witnessed on his dives.

Beebe described the fish as being at least 2 feet in length. It was said to be pale and flesh-colored. He said the body was elongated by the tail was "reduced to a tiny knob or button". It had large, sail-like fins on the top and bottom of the body, "lengthening rapidly in a concave curve high above and far below the body ... posteriorly they were truncated". Beebe described the creature clearly to his colleague Gloria Hollister.
