Dear Tokoiners,

KuCoin has detected unusual activity in cryptocurrency withdrawal from some of their accounts, and has temporarily halted the deposit and withdrawal of $TOKO from user accounts.

According to their latest security audit report, part of Bitcoin, ERC-20 and other tokens in KuCoin’s hot wallets were transferred out of the exchange. These assets comprised a small portion of KuCoin’s total assets holdings. The assets in their cold wallets are safe and unharmed, and their hot wallets have been re-deployed.

While KuCoin conducts a thorough security review, all TOKO deposits and withdrawals are temporarily suspended till further notice. KuCoin will restore the services gradually after ensuring a safe state.

KuCoin has assured all users that if any user fund is affected by this incident, it will be covered completely by KuCoin’s insurance fund.

Don’t worry, your TOKO assets in KuCoin accounts are safe and sound.

In order to prevents any potential hackers from moving out any other funds, KuCoin had suspended all deposits and withdrawals from their wallets, including $TOKO.

KuCoin Global CEO Johnny Lyu hosted a livestream on 26th Sept in response to this incident. He has also provided further updates about the investigation.

As you all know, Tokoin and KuCoin have been working closely to ensure the safety of user funds since the KuCoin Security Incident, where a portion of tokens stored in KuCoin’s hot wallets were stolen. The tokens stored in KuCoin’s cold wallets are stored offline and completely safe.

Keeping the best interests of $TOKO holders in mind, Tokoin has decided to create a new smart contract and re-issue a new $TOKO token in the ratio 1:1 via the new smart contract.

After the new smart contract is deployed, $TOKO holders will need to exchange their old $TOKO tokens with the new $TOKO token. Once the token swap happens, the old $TOKO tokens will become obsolete.

Tokoin team is working relentlessly to deploy the new smart contract.

Trading of $TOKO on KuCoin will remain completely unaffected, and you can resume trading without any fears. We will also be upgrading some technical aspects in the new smart contract, making the best out of an adverse situation.

We recently hosted Hong Zhuang Lim, Co-Founder of our Singapore based partner ShuttleOne, in the Tokoin Global Telegram channel for an AMA session.

ShuttleOne facilitates remittances and trade financing for some Govt. agencies in different regions of South-East Asia, including Indonesia. Through this partnership, Tokoin is using ShuttleOne’s infrastructure for credit profiling, which will help us to distribute loans to MSMEs much more efficiently.
