Currently I'm hosting 40+ cows at my place for grazing and yesterday a mama had been separated from her calf. It was quite the drama, among the cows, and we scoured the property looking for her baby. Calves can be like fawns and just lay quietly in tall grass for long periods of time, hoping to not draw the attention of predators.
We noticed the mom was keen on a particular gate and so she was let through. Another mama tried to dash through with her, to help her friend! Anyhow, she took off like a rocket in a particular direction and we followed her. Lo and behold, she knew where her calf was (on a neighboring property). It was a happy ending! Her calf hadn't been on her for over 24 hours and the calf is only 6 days old, at this point. There's time to be made up for. 🥰

A telltale sign in Montana that the land doesn't have long to go is they'll do a year or two of canola crops on it. One last toxic bloom or two and you just know that land is getting hacked up. The grazing land with cows on it lasts longer but even that is changing. The canola crops are such a tell. Any farmer who doesn't give a shit, just wants money, and is taking government payola will just sell it the moment a developer gives him Arizona money. Then he goes down to Arizona, sees it's gone completely to hell, and rather than have a crisis of conscience will go to Texas. When he's there, he tells people how nice Montana was. So all these Texas plate people shit it in here and buy the cookie cutter OSB boxes. Cycle continues.

All this environmental destruction so that Boomers can have one last home to die in with their Social Security money.
