The undemocratic concept of the 'vote bank' is being dismantled in the 'illiterate' north India rather than the 'higly literate' Keralam. Ravichandran C.

Over 10 million female voters, yet zero female Malayali members in the Lok Sabha

At a time when countries have started electing female presidents/prime ministers, not a single woman gets at least one 'secure seat' to contest from in our state. The biggest category of voters in our state has no direct representation/voice in the country’s parliament.

Desperate guy in KSRTC

I was traveling from Palakkad to Trivandrum in KSRTC. I was in the Three seater. My friend sat right next to me,she took the window. And on my left the seat was vacant. I fell asleep and at some point I felt someone touching my elbow.I jolted awake and on my left there was this guy looks around 25-30 in-between. Well dressed and fair looking. He was not looking at my direction but his hands on were rubbing on my elbows. I just moved my hands away and tried to sit close to my friend. But this guy again tried to sneak his hands to my arms. I slapped his hands away. The next thing I know, he tried to touch my thighs and i lost it. I pinched and kicked on his legs. And slapped his hands away. Straight away he changed the seat. I feel like my reaction to his activity were not enough.Cant take this from my head.

Bangalore or Kochi for a retired Malayali couple nearing their 70s?

Hi all,

My parents are close to retirement. We are middle class NRIs (want to be clear that we are not "rich") who have been in the Middle East for over 40 years. We have a couple of apartments in North Bangalore, but not in expensive areas so the sale value isn't great (both flats will sell for a total of 90L, as per our estimate). We were initially planning to sell those and invest in a newer apartment in a better area. This would have meant adding in more money to whatever we receive from the sale. Bangalore is a great city with amazing people and lovely weather. However, Kochi has also come into conversation recently mainly because the apartments in gated societies appear to be cheaper (compared to Bangalore) and the city obviously has many positives, but this is our opinion based off a few visits. Would someone help me put together pros and cons of Bangalore vs Kochi? I'm making a list of at my end so anything to contribute to it would be helpful. Also, an estimate of monthly costs estimated to live comfortably in the city would help.

The only reason I am not encouraging them to consider their hometown/village is because of access to specialty healthcare, in case of emergencies as my father had a bypass surgery few years ago. Or else they would have preferred this.
