Must 5 to do in kerala

In your opinion what do you think are the top 5 things to do or try in kerala? For non malayalis mostly. Often when people ask me I go blank, I tell them what all I can remember, but miss out on most.

Shanthan - What are some names given to individuals in Kerala which are directly derived from common words in Malayalam ? - Such names are very common in other states and many countries, but very rare here.

What do you consider middle class in kerala?

Everyone is a middle class these days. From people who can't afford college to, NRIs who have gadgets like iPhone.

People who can afford a descent lifestyle will still go with the senti post of "being middle class"

Have you faced caste discrimination in Kerala?

Hi,

Recently in the subs of other cities/states of India, I've seen people talking about casteism that they faced in those respective places. So i just wanted to know if casteism is blatant in Kerala or is it very subtle but omnipresent?

Frustrated with increasing number of roadside advertisements in Kerala

Does anyone else feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of advertisements along the roads in Kerala? It seems like every corner is now cluttered with ads, making it harder to navigate and enjoy the scenic beauty of our state.

But what really grinds my gears is the explosion of hospital advertisements. (For eg Parumala, Caritas) It's almost like every hospital is trying to outdo each other with bigger and more obnoxious ads. Yes, we get it – you're a super-specialty hospital with state-of-the-art facilities. But do we really need to see an ad every few meters reminding us of it?

Not only is it distracting for drivers, but it also ruins the aesthetic appeal of our beautiful landscapes. Can we please have some regulations on this and bring back the charm of our roads? What are your thoughts?

Looking forward to hearing your opinions!

Hindification of Malayalam names!

Why are names like Rama Dasan changed to Ram Das nowadays. I see a lot of kids having such Hindified names.
When did this trend start and why?
Another example is Rajan into Raj.

Online therapy / psychologists

I (22f) have been planning to consult a therapist for the longest time now but couldn’t due to financial and personal reasons and now i am at a point where i feel like i meed support. Does anyone have leads on psychologists (preferably female) who offer online sessions, since i am working it would be helpful to have sessions maybe 5:30-6 , this is not compulsory as i can try shifting around. My main concern is cost. I contacted compass after finding about it on reddit and they charge 1200 per hour which is more than what i can afford. I am not sure about the market rates but with my current salary, i cannot afford anything more than 750-800 per hour. Please help me even with suggestions or info on market rates or online therapy as an option on its own

Living together in Kerala? How to proceed with it?

My partner and I are planning to live together for a couple of months in Kerala. My bf is posted there and not in some city. Since we both lived outside for most of our lives, we don't know what the actual scenerio would be like if we are to show up as unmarried couple. Would it work if we pose as married couple without the mangalsutra and all? Do women still wear mangalsutra over there? Is there anything else that married couple do that we can imitate so that it looks convincing?
We are 25 and 28, both working, both same religion, if at all that matters. Neither of our family knows.

I’m traumatised about something I saw!

Guys I’m a student at CUSAT and I’m traumatised by seeing something at a restaurant near the campus.

So here is the thing. Me and a friend went to the restaurant at around 1am to have a coffee. There were only few customers then. There were also two hotel workers. Let’s call them A and B. So both of them are migrant workers. A is around 25 and B looks around 15.

While we were drinking the coffee I noticed these guys cuddling together at the other end, and slowly they started staring at my legs. I didn’t care it then as I thought they might be looking at my new footwear but not they were not. After a bit they started kissing. I was horrified to see this and I stopped having the coffee and asked my friend to leave. While we were at the counter to pay, they were still kissing like they don’t care we are there.

I don’t care if they are gay or not, but seeing a kid like that with a grown ass man ready made me horrified.
