What actions of yours define a responsible citizen?

My house is near the market area of a small township which almost entirely goes dark after 9 pm. Being in the vicinity of the market, mine is one of the very few households in the area. Behind the shopping complex next to my house, lives a family of three, a mother (a nursing tutor) and her children, still in school and their pup dog. Despite the ruckus the last mentioned creates, they’re a very harmless and serene family.
Yesterday night, things changed. By midnight loud bangs were heard from their front door and on checking, a middle aged man, apparently the father of the kids (they’ve been separated for over an year and we didnt know that), kept banging on their front door, and kept shouting, threatening to bring the door down. The kids kept crying and begged for him to go away, and the pup kept barking. The scene was so intense, given its a first around this neighbourhood.
Me was confused.
My parents advised me to stay put and tried to call a nearby socially active guy (yes, Im more of an introvert) and the guy suggested we call the police. I was ready with the contact number of the nearest police station, and I dialled the number, gave the details.
They asked for my name and contact number in case they wanted to know the exact route and location. Against my parents’ advice I doxxed myself. My parents still keep haunting me of the consequences of it not being a fair world and even witnesses could be held accountable and all that stuff. I can understand their concern but I wish to believe I did the right thing.
By the time cops arrived, our hero punched and brought down a window pane but the good guys in khakhi took him away.
I slept in peace of having helped and being a responsible citizen?
But it concerns me how the fear of consequences holds back many people, like my parents in doin the right thing.
Just saying.

Sadly, colorism and body shaming are very common in our society

I’m a 24F, currently doing a senior house surgency in a Gov sector. Today a Nurse working in my department bluntly passed a couple of comments about my appearance. This is the first time she is seeing me, and first comment she said was ‘ Doctorji faceil oil thechit indo, kurachude Ang karath erikyunu’ . I got stucked for a moment and I couldn’t say back anything because I don’t expect someone to pass such remarks on first time seeing you, and a hour later she said ‘ Eth enthoru heighta Doctorjik ‘. I’m 172cm , I understood I’m above the average height.
My question is it still common to people to shoot such remarks on a total stranger? Don’t they even think another person might get hurt with it?
Later she bodyshammed my friend for being fat!

Uber Auto what's happening

Can someone please please tell me how it works? Like I'm very confused. Athayath I know how to use the app and stuff but I'm very confused because the driver for some reason turned on the meter during the ride. He went through all the wrong ways and took the long route for some reason (though the money is already paid, one way) and he said don't worry we know which route to go. Dropped me off at the place but he asked for the price shown on the meter which is 195/-. I was confused because I already paid the money through upi right, and he only has to pick me up and drop me off right..i told him no can do that's not right and he bickered a lot w me.

But then I did give the money but luckily my amma (who's a lawyer)was with me in the auto and she threatened to file a case against him and scared him off. Upon realising shit became serious he apologized and begged for the gpay number to transfer the same money back.

We didn't want to file a case against him because he seemed a very young person and i don't know what came over him or if he does this a lot.
But this is not right, right?
