The BYSOL fund weekly report shows a significant increase in the number of requests received by the fund. One reason is the close cooperation of the BYSOL fund with strike committees of major plants in Belarus. “The foundation also helps the organized strike committees,” confirms Andrej Stryzhak, BYSOL co-founder.

Last week 108 more people got help from BYSOL, the amount of 233,943 € was paid. Visit BYSOL, donate via Facebook, and share.
“IT’S ONLY GOING TO GET WORSE” ● Workers of Hrodna Azot told why two departments stopped working.

Yesterday, two departments of Hrodna Azot stopped working: Ammonia-4 and Carbamide-4. According to the state-owned media, the former stopped due to the “technological process issues”, and the latter had to stop because it can’t work without the former. “Salidarnasc” spoke to the workers and learned two most likely reasons for the stoppage.

“These two departments work in tandem. If Ammonia stops, Carbamide has to stop too because it uses the raw materials produced in Ammonia,” the workers said. “It is unknown, exactly which machine stopped working but even if it’s fixed, Ammonia can’t restart earlier than tomorrow, and then Carbamide could return to work too.”

But if this doesn’t happen, the production of Cyclohexanone will stop as well, the workers note.

“The situation is already very troubling. It requires that all the best-qualified specialists are present but due to the situation in the country, they have to leave their jobs. Equipment troubles are normal, every engineer does rounds during his shift to find all the issues as soon as possible. In the meantime, his colleague keeps watching the detector readings.”

Why was the problem at Ammonia-4 found so late or wasn’t fixed promptly? Most likely this is due to the fact that the plant is understaffed, while the management keeps firing “problematic” workers.

“The shifts have halved, and it takes at least a year to train a replacement: six months of obligatory internship plus six months of practical work. The higher-ups gave the management two orders which were made public several times: fire all the strikers and keep the plant running. This is an opportunity to test whether it is possible to execute these orders in reality. It isn’t. And it’s only going to get worse,” the strike committee of Hrodna Azot told.

Hrodna Azot was one of the first plants to join the nationwide strike. Several shifts at the Ammonia-3 and Carbamide-4 refused to work. Some strikers were fired and strikebreakers were brought in but, apparently, this didn’t solve the problem. Besides, more workers keep joining the strike.

Britain has expelled two Belarusian diplomats in response to the removal of two UK envoys from the former Soviet bloc country, the foreign secretary, Dominic Raab, has said.

The move came after the British diplomats, including a defence attache, were ordered home from the capital, Minsk.

The British diplomats were expelled on Monday after Belarus objected to their observation of street protests in Minsk on Sunday. Raab said the expulsions ran counter to diplomatic norms since the two diplomats had been carrying out legitimate duties.

The Belarusian ambassador, Maxim Yermalovich, was summoned to the Foreign Office on Tuesday afternoon to be informed of the decision. The UK said its decision was appropriate and proportionate.
The Investigative Committee refused to start a criminal case regarding the death of Hennadiy Shutov, who was shot to the back of the head by a silovik on August 11 in Brest.

“The legal estimation of the actions of people connected with causing bodily harm to Shutov will be given during the investigation of a criminal case. At the moment, there is no basis for starting a criminal case on article 139 of the Criminal Code”, the statement of the Committee reads.

However, the investigation of a case of resisting a police officer continues. Shutov and his friend Alexander Kordyukov are suspects. TUT.BY couldn't find out anything from Shutov's daughter Anastacia - she signed a non-disclosure agreement.
Alexander Lukashenko, in a conversation with the head of trade unions of Belarus Mikhail Orda, commented on the military security.

“You heard yesterday, this is also very important: Poland and the United States have signed another agreement on military cooperation. New contingents of military personnel are already being transferred from the USA (not from Germany to Poland). The question is: why? If someone from our people does not understand, especially from these protestors, they should think that the situation is not so simple,” he said.

“If someone wants to make Belarus a province of Poland or Lithuania, this is possible only after my funeral. They must understand this,” Lukashenko noted.
Maria Kalesnikava's friend Tatyana Nikitina shared a part of the letter from Maria on Facebook. There she tells what she does in the cell and what records she sets.

Tatiana says that Maria already in her first letters mentioned that she did exercises when they are taken out for walks. And in the last, she noted that she was engaged in sports in the cell:

“I do fitness actively and look younger than two months ago,” she writes. “Highest scores are 350 squats in two sets, 100 push-ups in three sets. Stretching for twine is what I really want to! Stretching for the back and the whole body. If you give me a clue to some cool exercises, I'd be very, very happy!”

In a difficult situation, Maria does not lose her optimism: “During recent years, I slept for 4-5 hours a day, and now I sleep for 8. This is something unimaginable!”

“In any case, we will provide assistance, just other opportunities will be used for this. Thanks to the support of the country and the world, the help that Belarusians receive is unique and will continue,” Stryzhak concludes.
“TOGETHER WE ARE THE BELARUSIAN NATION”

Zhodzina. Alexander Morozov, a worker from BelAZ joined the nationwide strike.

“I'm a Belarusian. Together we are the Belarusian nation. We must have freedom of speech, freedom of expression. Instead we see siloviki beating and mutilating peaceful people. They don't care who to beat, women, men, or children. They don't care if people get disfigured for life,” his statement reads.
“NO DIALOGUE IN THE STREET”

Natalia Kachanava, head of the upper house of Belarusian parliament, commented on the medical workers' protests:

“There will be no dialogue in the street. And those who break the law, who come to the unsanctioned protests and disturb public order, this is why they are arrested - and will be! We are a state that values the rule of law!”

Protesters in Minsk are bombarded with stun grenades
Today a traditional Sunday march is ongoing in Minsk (and across the country), further fueled by a recent death of Roman Bondarenko, who died after severe beating by police.

A record number of security officials and special equipment have been brought to Minsk today. Access to metro station Pushkinskaya (metro and surface traffic), which was declared as the assembly point of the protest, is completely blocked. The security forces harshly detained and dispersed the protesters into the courtyards, where the arrests continued. Special means (tear gas, stun grenades) have been used to restrain protesters.

As of 12:30 am Minsk time, at the Pushkiskaya metro station area, the clean-up operation is almost complete: there are almost no people left here, the security forces are just running around the yards and stops, detaining the few who remain.
