Today (June 24, 2024) at approximately 17:00 UTC, staking and collator rewards were incorrectly calculated for a single round (1,200 blocks), and an excess of MOVR was distributed.
The issue resolved itself in the next round, reward distribution returned to normal, and no further distribution issues are anticipated.
What happened?
The issue relates to the enabling of Asynchronous Backing on Moonriver in RT3000, which occurred earlier today (at approximately 13:11 UTC).
🔽 The Moonriver technical team is conducting further analysis and will share more details of this incident in the coming days.
🔽 The RT3000 upgrade for Moonbeam will be canceled and replaced with RT3001 to avoid this issue occurring on Moonbeam.
Although unfortunate, bugs do happen, and this incident demonstrates Moonriver's value as Moonbeam's incentivized canary network.
The issue resolved itself in the next round, reward distribution returned to normal, and no further distribution issues are anticipated.
