⚙️ Runtime Upgrade 2401 is up for vote on Moonriver Network until Friday, July 7th!

If passed, it will enact updates, including:

- Upgrade all networks to Substrate v0.9.40.
- ERC20 XCM enabled assets: Facilitates seamless transfer of ERC20 tokens across the broader parachain ecosystem.
- Remote EVM execution: Enables smart contract developers to make their Dapps accessible to anyone in the Kusama ecosystem.
- GMP Precompile for Transfers with Payload: Increases the reach and impact of the Moonbeam ecosystem by enabling seamless interoperability with other blockchains.
- Addition of the Multisigs pallet.

Hey everyone! We're having an important on-chain vote between MBIP-4 and MBIP-5 to address storage growth.

Even though MBIP-4 won the initial vote, it was by a slim margin with low turnout. Here's what you need to know:

MBIP-4 adds a StorageBaseFee (charge for storing data on the blockchain. It regulates the cost of adding new data, promoting sustainable growth of the blockchain.)
🔹Pros: it differentiates storage and CPU costs.
🔹Cons: it's complex and could disrupt typical Ethereum RPC compatibility.

MBIP-5 sets a Storage limit per gas.
🔹Pros: it's simpler and more aligned with Ethereum standards.
🔹Cons: it combines block storage and CPU, which might limit the overall efficiency of the blockchain, as we can't fully utilize storage and computing power independently.

The Moonbeam Foundation recommends MBIP-5 for its simplicity and alignment with Ethereum standards. Yet, the community's choice will be respected.

An on-chain vote is live to capture the community's will, lasting for 7 days. This is key to our network's sustainability, so make sure to participate!

In this process, projects are responsible for drafting proposals for their specific grant request and what they plan to use the funding for, while the community is tasked with voting on which projects should receive the funding via Snapshot.
