Telegram is all about privacy and security, and it isn't beholden to larger companies like Facebook. Visible Votes: Creator can allow everyone in the group to see who voted for what. Last year, Telegram brought a unique feature that allows you to discover Telegram users and groups based on your location. Finally, if you don't want to disturb the other person, choose Send without sound to silently deliver the message to the other party without them getting a notification.

There are many cloud services to select from; each has its own features and costs. Telegram has embraced this functionality in a unique way. Save for Notifications To start a Secret Chat, you can either tap on the option in the hamburger menu and select a contact to start the chat. Alternatively, you can go to an existing chat, tap on the top bar for the user’s information and scroll down to find the “Start Secret Chat” option at the very bottom of the page. Once you tap on the option, the other person will have to accept your invitation to initiate the Secret Chat. If you want to use Telegram in a region where it's blocked, you'll appreciate the Telegram function that allows you to connect via a proxy server. Most of the time, it's better to use a VPN on your phone, but a proxy can still help you get around regional restrictions.

Like many communication apps, Telegram includes chatbots. Bots add useful functions both on their own and into your chats; they can do everything from checking the weather to playing games. Go to Settings > Chat Settings to create your own theme.
