💭This is the journey of a modern woman exploring the world of tomorrow-a world of people preparing to go to the Moon and the distant planets. Her characters are real as today's headlines. They include astronauts Shepard, Glenn, Schirra, Cooper, Borman, Conrad and Stafford, among others; spacecraft designers von Braun and Stuhlinger; and many key figures of the American space program. For a year Oriana Fallaci spent much time in Houston, Huntsville and Cape Kennedy, observing these priests of the new order, listening and talking to them.

▫️زاده ی ۲۹ ژوئن ۱۹۲۹ و درگذشته ی ۱۵ سپتامبر ۲۰۰۶، روزنامه نگار، نویسنده و مصاحبه گر سیاسی برجسته ی ایتالیایی بود که در شهر فلورانس متولد شد و در سن ۷۷ سالگی در همان شهر درگذشت. وی در دوران جنگ جهانی دوم به عنوان یک چریک ضد فاشیسم فعالیت می کرد. آن چه بیش از هر چیز به معروفیت وی کمک نمود، مجموعه مصاحبه های مفصل و مشهور او با رهبران سرشناسی همچون محمدرضا پهلوی، یاسر عرفات، ذوالفقار علی بوتو، روح الله خمینی، ایندیرا گاندی، گلدا مایر، ملک حسین، معمر قذافی، جرج حبش، و هنری کیسینجر بود.اوریانا فالاچی که به لحاظ عقاید سیاسی از چپ بریده و راست گرا محسوب می شد، از نظر مذهبی یک «ملحد مسیحی» به شمار می آمد؛ زیرا او ظاهرا به خدا ایمانی نداشت، اما گه گاهی تمایلاتی را به مسیحیت نشان می داد. به عنوان نمونه او در اگوست ۲۰۰۵ با پاپ بندیکت شانزدهم دیدار کرد. او هنگامی که فهمید به نوعی سرطان قابل کنترل دچار است، تصمیم گرفت دیگر کتاب ننویسد و بقیه ی عمر را به استراحت بپردازد. وی با نگاه ویژه ای که به زندگی داشت، (که نه خدا را قبول داشت و نه خلقت تصادفی جهان و نه هیچ تئوری دیگری از لائیک ها و دیگر دانشمندان دین گریز) گوشه گیرانه در آپارتمانش در نیویورک و ویلایش در توسکانی ایتالیا به زندگی مشغول بود. او در ۱۵ سپتامبر ۲۰۰۶، در سن هفتاد و هفت سالگی در کلینیک خصوصی سانتا کیارا در شهر فلورانس ایتالیا، بر اثر ابتلا به سرطان ریه درگذشت.
