While you can send uncompressed media in other messaging apps, you have to convert it in another format like EXE or PDF. A further privacy blunder is that Telegram notifies your contacts when you join it — unless you don’t give it permission to access your contacts. The app doesn’t warn you it’s about to ping your contacts, and that’s a big caveat for those who want to use Telegram to keep a low profile. Go to Settings > Chat Settings to create your own theme. Launch the Telegram app on your device and navigate to Settings -> Data and Storage. On Android, simply slide out the left menu and choose New Secret Chat to start a new one. On iPhone, open a chat, tap the contact's name at the top, choose More, and then hit Start Secret Chat.
