Telegram supports two layers of secure encryption. Cloud Chats use server-client encryption while Secret Chats use an additional layer of client-client encryption. All content is encrypted in the same way — be it media, text, or files. You can take a new photo, upload an existing one, search the web for a new image, or remove your current photo. This is incredibly useful for keeping track of an important URL, getting an image to another device without cloud storage, or keeping a record of important information.
