The country of Iran was vast in the past & access to different regions & cities of the country was beyond the ability of humans, therefore, Iranians started to breed horses & different types were bred in each region according to their needs & conditions. This is how Iran is known as the cradle of horse breeding. Marco Polo also writes about this: Iran has the best & most beautiful horses in the world.

کشور ایران در گذشته بسیار پهناورتر بوده است و دسترسی به مناطق و شهرهای مختلف کشور، خارج از قدرت نیروی انسانی بوده از همین رو ایرانیان شروع به پرورش اسب کردند و در هر منطقه‌ای با توجه به شرایط و کاربرد اسب در آن منطقه نژاد گوناگونی را به وجود آوردند این‌گونه شد که ایران را مهد پرورش اسب می‌دانند. مارکوپولو هم در این باره می‌نویسد: در ایران بهترین و زیباترین اسب‌های جهان موجود است.
