Abu Jaafar Muhammad ibn Musa Khwarizmi (780-850 AD):
Iranian mathematician, astronomer, geographer, philosopher, historian & polymath who spent most of his life in Baghdad as a member of the House of Wisdom, the major academic center in Baghdad during the Islamic Golden Age.
He is well known for his vastly influential works in mathematics, especially algebra. George Sarton, in his book, Introduction to the History of Science, calls the first half of the 9th century the "Khwarizmi era".
The Compendious Book on Calculation by Completion and Balancing, a landmark work in the history of mathematics which was translated into Latin by Robert of Chester in 1145, was used until the sixteenth century as the principal mathematical textbook of European universities.
His book, On the Calculation with Hindu Numerals, was translated into Latin several times & caused the European numerical system to change from Roman numerals to Indo-Arabic numerals. Khwarizmi followed the work of Diophantus in the field of algebra & continued it.
He established an astronomical table & more accurate tables of sines and cosines & introduced the first table of tangents.

ابوجعفر محمد بن موسی خوارزمی(۷۸۰–۸۵۰ م) :
ریاضیدان، ستاره‌شناس، جغرافیدان ،فیلسوف و مورخ و همه‌چیزدان ایرانی که بیشتر عمر خود را در بغداد بعنوان یکی از اعضای دارالحکمه گذراند.
شهرت وی در ریاضیات، به‌ویژه جبر است. جرج سارتن، در کتاب مقدمه ای بر تاریخ علم نیمه اول سده ۹ میلادی را «عصر خوارزمی» می‌نامد.
ترجمه کتاب جبر و مقابله توسط رابرت چستر در ۱۱۴۵ میلادی انجام شد و تا قرن ۱۶ میلادی کتاب درسی دانشگاه‌های اروپا بود.
کتاب حساب الهند چندین بار به لاتین ترجمه و باعث شد دستگاه عددی اروپا از عددنویسی رومی به عددنویسی هندی-عربی تغییر یابد. خوارزمی کارهای دیوفانت را در رشته جبر دنبال کرد و به بحث آن پرداخت. وی یک جدول نجومی و جداول دقیقتر سینوس و کسینوس را تهیه کرد و اولین جدول تانژانت زوایا را تهیه کرد.

Durvantash Ziggurat (Assyrian: Dūr Untaš, Elamite: Āl Untaš dNapiriša), mostly known as Choghazanbil, is an ancient shrine that was built around 1250 BC in the Elam civilization. This ziggurat is the central building of the ancient site left from the Elamite Duravantash complex (Ontash city), which is located near Shush in Khuzestan province. In 1979, Chaghazanbil was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as the first historical place of Iran, its unique architecture, along with the discovered ziggurats in the Mesopotamia, are known to archaeologists & those who interested in history & world cultural heritage.

زیگورات دوراونتاش (به آشوری: Dūr Untaš، به ایلامی: Āl Untaš dNapiriša) که بیشتر با نام چُغازَنبیل شناخته می‌شود، نیایشگاهی باستانی است که حدود ۱۲۵۰ سال پیش از میلاد در تمدن ایلام ساخته شد. این زیگورات، بنای مرکزی محوطه باستانی به‌جای مانده از مجموعه ایلامی دوراونتاش (شهر اونتاش) است که نزدیک شوش در استان خوزستان قرار گرفته‌است. چغازنبیل در سال ۱۹۷۹ میلادی به عنوان اولین اثر تاریخی از ایران در فهرست میراث جهانی یونسکو جای گرفت و معماری منحصر به فرد آن، در کنار زیگورات‌های کشف شده در میان رودان، برای باستان‌شناسان و علاقه‌مندان به تاریخ و میراث فرهنگی جهانی شناخته شده‌است.
