🔹Soon after the war began, the 27 member states agreed upon a Temporary Protective Directive that guarantees visa-free housing, healthcare & access to the job market to Ukrainians.
🔹Yet as the war grinds on and European countries face their own crises in the form of cost-of-living inflation, rising energy prices and—in Ireland’s case—acute housing shortages, that welcome is being tested as never before.

🔸In September, 12 of Germany’s 16 states reported that they had reached the limits of the housing & education they could provide.
🔸In Nov, Austria restricted the free train travel it had provided to Ukrainians.
🔸And Poland recently amended its provisions to require any Ukrainian who stays in the country for more than 120 days to pay for part of their accommodation.

Iran's ancient clay ice pits:
Yakhchāl or ice pit is an ancient type of ice house for producing & storing ice. Usually, each ice pit consisted of a pool, a high wall (called a fence), & a domed tank. The fence was built in such a way that its shadow fell on the pool all day & prevented the pool water from heating up. The ice that was made in the pool in the winter was stored in the tank & used in the summer.

یخچال‌های گلی قدیمی ایران:
یخدان یا یخچال، گونه‌ای ساختمان است که در معماری قدیم ایران برای تولید و نگه‌داری یخ ساخته می‌شد. معمولاً هر یخچال دارای یک استخر و یک دیوار بلند (بنام حصار) و یک مخزن گنبددار بود. حصار طوری ساخته می‌شد که تمام روز سایه آن بر استخر می‌افتاد و از گرم شدن آب استخر جلوگیری می‌کرد. یخی را که در زمستان در استخر یخچال درست می‌شد می‌شکستند و در خزانه انبار می‌کردند و در فصل گرما آن را به کار می‌بردند.
