Genesis 25:33 NIV
[33] But Jacob said, “Swear to me first.” So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob.
From this scripture we can learn something significant. Here Esau sold his birthright to his younger brother. You would expect a birthright to be something that cannot be sold. But it happened, which allowed Jacob to receive the blessings of the firstborn. We can learn from this to watch our mouth and be careful to make promises we cannot keep. Else the consequences could be very costly.

Matthew 18:15 - 17 NIV
[15] “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. [16] But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ [17] If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
From this scripture we learn how to deal with a brother or sister who has sinned. If he or she is still not willing to accept his or her fault, know that you have done your best. I pray God gives us the courage to point out the faults of our brethren, without judging.
