2 Corinthians 1:3 - 4 NIV

[3] Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, [4] who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

From today’s scripture we learn that God our compassionate Father, comforts us in times of trouble. How does He do this? Through the holy spirit. The holy spirit is described as a Comforter, Counsellor, Advocate etc. But we must also remember that as we are being comforted, we must also comfort others who are in trouble.

Ephesians 4:31 - 32 NIV

[31] Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. [32] Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

We are admonished to relieve our hearts of any bitterness and evil. We are also admonished to be kind, compassionate, and forgiving just as God forgave us through Christ. God knows our heart so let’s try to remove any anger, malice, or bitterness before we go before the Lord in prayer. So that we would find favour and our prayers be answered.

Understanding the love of the father will actually be a mind blowing experience, where you get to understand that no matter who you are, what you do and even where you are doesn’t really matter to him but all that matters is you are his child and he first loved you before you could even love him too. People have blinded into thinking that what they’ve done has taken the love and hand of God away from them. But we should understand he loves us no matter what or why.

Matthew 11:28 NIV

[28] β€œCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

If you are struggling with anything whether financially, academically, family issues, or whatever it may be. Jesus is telling us today that anyone who is burdened or weary should come to him that they will find rest. With Jesus in your life, amidst the challenges, you would have peace. There would be joy in your life regardless of the situation.

Philippians 4:6 NIV

[6] Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

From Today’s scripture we learn that whatever situation we find ourselves in, we shouldn’t worry. But rather we should take it to the Lord in prayer, with Thanksgiving, knowing that the Lord is faithful; He will never forsake us.

1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV

[13] No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

We have heard the saying, there’s nothing new under the sun. From today’s reading we learn that there is no temptation that is not known to man. We also learn that we are not tempted beyond what we can bear. There’s always a way to overcome our temptations. God is faithful, pray to Him when you are tempted and He show you a way out.

1 Peter 2:16 NIV

[16] Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves.

As Christians, we’re encouraged to live as free individuals, exploring, learning, and enjoying life. However, we mustn’t misuse our freedom as an excuse for sinful behaviour. Instead, we should willingly submit to God’s will and follow His instructions, which are revealed to us through the Holy Spirit and by reading the bible. By obeying His word, we can be both God’s devoted servants and experience true freedom. It’s a wonderful balance to strive for.

Galatians 6:10 NIV

[10] Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Today we learn that we should do good to everyone anytime we have the opportunity to. Doing good is part of the Christian life, even though it is not what takes us to heaven. It portrays the new life we now live in Jesus Christ and brings others to the faith.
