Let me tell you a little secret. You have no problems. It has been your ego all the time - fooling you, making you believe that something is wrong. You have been playing hide and seek, trying to find Me here, there and everywhere, when all the time I have been within yourself, as yourself.

We act as if problems came from outside. We try to blame someone else and say, "He caused the problem. She caused the problem. This or that caused the problem." The nature of the human mind is to blame somebody or something.

You are your own problem, your own friend and your own enemy. In other words, if your mind is a good friend to you, you will see only friends everywhere. But if your own mind acts like a traitor, you will find few friends. So make your mind your friend. Let it not color your vision. Let it not prejudice your thinking. It can be a beautiful instrument with which you can understand things well.

What you sow, you reap. That is God's way. That's why you don't need to praise God for happiness or blame God for unhappiness. You are the cause of it all.

O Devas! Know that in this entire universe, there is none other than me. I'm the non-dual one. I'm the ancient one. I'm the one who is eternal and I'm the non-eternal too, I'm the one who is blemishless [sinless]. I'm the one called as Brahmanaspati. I'm all the directions. I'm Savitri, I'm Gayatri. All these male, female and eunuchs also are me. I'm the Thrishtup, Jagati, Anushthup, Pankti chandas. I'm the one known through Vedas, I'm the truth, I'm peace, and I'm respect. I'm the lord of the universe, I'm the oldest, I'm the lord of all, I'm the Bhagawan [supreme personality of godhead], I'm the Lord, I'm the divine light. I'm the Itihasa, and Purana. I'm the Kalpa [eon], I'm the Upa-Kalpa [minor-eon], I'm the one who create these Kalpas, I'm the knowledge, I'm in the hymns of Upanishads, I'm mantra, and I'm the Vyakhyana [commentary] also. I'm the sacrificial offerings, I'm the donor, I'm the donation, I'm Ihaloka [this material world where jiva takes birth], I'm Paraloka [world where Jiva goes after departure], I'm Akshara [imperishable] and I'm kshara [perishable] too, I'm all these creatures. Self-control, serenity, and secrecy are also me. I'm the one having faces everywhere. I'm the end, and middle, I'm the door, I'm outside, I'm inside, I'm the front and back as well. I'm the imperishable one. I'm light and also I'm darkness, I'm the Indriyas [senses organs] and the Tanmatras as well. I'm the mind, intellect and ego. I'm the Vishayas [subjects] also. I'm Brahma, I'm Vishnu, I'm Maheshwara, I'm Uma, I'm Skanda, I'm Vinayaka. I'm Indra, Agni and Yama also. I'm Nairuti, Varuna and Vayo [anil]. I'm Kubera, I'm the fourteen worlds [lokas]. I'm the Sun, I'm the moon, I'm stars and planets as well, I'm all these creatures, I'm the Prana [life energy], I'm the time, death, and eternity. I'm the past, present and future. I'm everything indeed!

Oh, Son of Kunti, it is undoubtedly very difficult to gain control over the restless mind. But by constant practice [abhyasa] and detachment [vairagya], it can be done.

🌿The eye cannot see it; mind cannot grasp it. The deathless Self [Atman] has neither caste nor race, neither eyes nor ears nor hands nor feet. Sages say this Self [Atman] is infinite, [pervading] in the great and in the small, everlasting and changeless, the source of life.

🌿As the web issues out of the spider And is withdrawn, as plants sprout from the earth, as hair grows from the body, even so, the sages say, this universe springs from the deathless Self [Atman], the source of life.

🌿Delight in the study of the writings that glorify the Lord and His works. Have earnest faith in the teachings of the great Gurus of yore.

🌿Once that your Guru has opened your eyes to the Light of Lights [God], never again to be seduced by the fatal charms of the senses. Learn to regard all sensations with equal indifference.

🌿A seeker must acquire a true knowledge of the individual self [Jivatman] and the Supreme [Paramatman]; he must devote himself to meditation, worship and the adoration of the Supreme; this knowledge with discipline leads him to the realization of the Supreme.

🌿Seek not the company of those that are ever intent on the pursuit of wealth and pleasure; but remain, as much as possible, with those that are devoted to the Lord. Nor converse with slanderers and scandal mongers.

🌿The first signs of progress on the path of yoga are health, a sense of physical lightness, clearness of complexion, a beautiful voice, an agreeable odor of the person, and freedom from craving.

🌿As a soiled piece of metal, when it has been cleaned, shines brightly, so the dweller in the body, when he has realized the truth of the Self, loses his sorrow and becomes radiant with bliss.

🌿The yogi experiences directly the truth of Brahman by realizing the light of the Self within. He is freed from all impurities–he the pure, the birthless, the bright.

~Shvetashvatara Upanishad, 2:13-15

Freedom and love go together. Love is not a reaction. If I love you because you love me, that is mere trade, a thing to be bought in the market; it is not love. To love is not to ask anything in return, not even to feel that you are giving something- and it is only such love that can know freedom.

When the mother and father love their children, they do not compare them, they do not compare their child with another child; it is their child and they love their child. But you want to compare yourself with something better, with something nobler, with something richer, so you create in yourself a lack of love.

So as long as the mind is comparing, there is no love, and the mind is always judging, comparing, weighing, looking to find out where the weakness is. So where there is comparison, there is no love.

Love is not a sentiment, not romanticism, not dependent on something, and that state is extremely arduous and difficult to understand, or to be in-because our minds are always interfering, limiting, encroaching upon its functioning. Therefore it is important to understand first the mind and its ways; otherwise we shall be caught in illusions, caught in words and sensations that have very little significance.

Don't get disappointed if your wishes are not granted. It is all for your good. You are given only that much, which you're ready for and capable to handle. Nothing more, nothing less.

You must bear the burdens of those who, out of wisdom and devotion, surrender to you, O Lord. For they have offered you their life, with faith and love. It is this surrender, devotion, love and faith - that holds the power of even binding You - the boundless one. You too, my Lord, out of your compassion, gladly accept this bondage as well.

Others - who lack faith and love towards you - you take care of them as well. Unfortunately they are not aware about it, as they are not conscious enough to acknowledge your blissful all-pervading presence. They act too much out of their blunt limited logic and arrogance and even deny your existence. That's why they always complain, lament and suffer, out of their own folly.

🌿Don't talk of evil, don't think of evil, and don't do evil. Be like a rose, wafting to all the sweet fragrance of soul goodness.

🌿Make everyone feel that you are a friend; that you are a helper, not a destroyer. If you want to be good, analyze yourself and develop the virtues in you.

🌿Banish the thought that evil has any part in your nature, and it will drop off. Make everyone else feel that you are an image of God, not by your words but by your behaviour.

🌿Emphasize the light, and darkness will be no more. Study, meditate, and do good to others.
