🍃🌸Happy 158th Vivekananda Jayanti🌸🍃
[In modern times] The circle of vision has become so narrow, so degraded, so beastly, so animal! None is desiring anything beyond this body. Oh the terrible degradation. The terrible misery of it! What little flesh, the five senses, the stomach! What is the world but a combination of stomach and sex? Look at millions of men and women- that's what they're living for. Take these away from them and they will find their life empty, meaningless and intolerable. Such are we. And such is our mind; It is continuously hankering for ways and means to satisfy the hunger of the stomach and sex. All the time this is going on. There is also endless suffering; these desires of the body bring only momentary satisfaction and endless suffering. It is like drinking a cup of which the surface layer is nectar, while underneath all is poison. But we still hanker for all these things. What can be done? Renunciation of the senses and desires is the only way out of this misery. If you want to be Spiritual, you must renounce. This is the real test. Give up the world (attachment to world)- this nonsense of the senses. There is only one desire, to know what is True, to be Spiritual. No more materialism, no more egoism. I must become Spiritual. Strong, intense must be the desire.

🌿Don’t worry! Restlessness is the nature of the mind, as it is of the eyes and ears. Practise regularly. The Name of God is more powerful than the senses. Always think of the Master [Guru], who is looking after you. Don’t be troubled about your lapses.
🌿Whenever the mind goes after anything other than God, consider that as transient and surrender the mind at the sacred feet of the Lord.
🌿The mind naturally tends towards evil deeds. It is lethargic in doing good works. Formerly I used to get up at 3 AM and sit up for meditation. One day I felt disinclined to do so on account of physical indisposition. That one day’s irregularity resulted in the upsetting of my routine for a number of days. That is why I say that perseverance and tenacity are necessary for success in all good work.
🌿In time the mind itself becomes the Guru. To pray to God and meditate on Him for two minutes with full concentration is better than doing so for long hours without it.

🌿The deer, the elephant, the moth, the fish and the honey-bee-- these five meet death because of their bondage to one of the five senses. What then is the condition of a person who is attached to all five?
🌿If indeed you have a craving for liberation, avoid sense-objects from a distance as if they were poison; and with respectful reverence, daily cultivate the nectarine virtues of contentment, compassion, forgiveness, straightforwardness, calmness, and self-control.
🌿This body is essentially an instrument for realizing the Paramatman [God]. He who does not constantly use it for liberating himself from the bondage born of beginningless ignorance but constantly seeks to gratify it, destroys himself.
~Adi Shankaracharya

We are all born idolaters, and idolatry is good, because it is in the nature of man. Who can get beyond it? Only the perfect man, the God-man. The rest are all idolaters. So long as we see [or want] this universe before us, with its forms and shapes, we are all idolaters. This [body] is a gigantic symbol we are worshipping. He who says that he is the body, is a born idolater.

It's so-so. Okayish, nothing special. 😐
We grow through investigation, and to investigate we need experience. We tend to repeat what we have not understood. If we are sensitive and intelligent, we need not suffer. Pain is a call for attention and penalty of carelessness. Intelligent and compassionate action is the only remedy.

🌿To Prevent Mental Disease🌿
Cultivate peace, and faith in God. Free the mind from all disturbing thoughts and fill it with love and joy. Realize the superiority of mental healing over physical healing. Banish bad habits, which make life miserable.
🌿To Prevent Spiritual Disease🌿
Spiritualize the body by destruction of the consciousness of mortality and change. The body is materialized vibration and should be cognized as such. The consciousness of disease, decay, and death should be removed by scientific understanding of the underlying unifying laws of matter and Spirit, and of the delusive manifestation of Spirit as matter, of the Infinite as finite. Firmly believe that you are created in the image of the Father and are therefore immortal and perfect. Even a particle of matter or a wave of energy is indestructible, as science has proved; the soul or spiritual essence of man is also indestructible. Matter undergoes change; the soul undergoes changing experiences. Radical changes are termed death, but death or a change in form does not change or destroy the spiritual essence. Various methods of concentration and meditation are taught, but the Yogoda Satsanga methods are the most effective. Apply in your daily life the experiences of peace and poise you receive during concentration and meditation. Maintain your equilibrium amidst trying circumstances. Do not abandon yourself to violent emotions; stand unshaken by adverse turns of events.

✨When we get up in the morning -
कराग्रे वसते लक्ष्मीः करमध्ये सरस्वती । करमूले स्थिता गौरी प्रभाते करदर्शनम् ॥
karāgre vasatekarāgre vasate lakṣmīḥ karamadhye sarasvatī । karamūle sthitā gaurī prabhāte karadarśanam ॥
At the top of the palm dwells Goddess Lakṣmī, Goddess Sarasvatī in the middle, and Gaurī at the base. Therefore, one should look at one's hands in the early morning and contemplate on them.

🌿Is God with Form or Formless?🌿
On another day, a devotee asked the Master, “Is God with form or formless?”
This has been a common question in the minds of most seekers on the path of God consciousness.
Thakur [Sri Sri Bhajan Brahmachari] replied with a calm voice, but thundering with the Truth that is enshrined in the Vedic tradition :-
Ishwar is God without beginning and without end. He is there from eternity, beyond the frame of time, eternally at play with the process of creation and annihilation. That is the reason the path of dharma or Truth is the path of justice, the path of peace. Truth reveals, in its own mysterious ways, the untruths with which the whole of the cosmic play is happening. You see God according to your own faith. You may call God formless or with form. Know that the formless aspect resonates to the nature of those who follow the path of Jnana [knowledge], while the divine in form speaks to those who follow the path Bhakti, which is devotion and love. Don’t force a formless god on the ones who are treading the path of devotional surrender. In the path of Bhakti [devotion], if the devotee cannot relate to the form of God, if he cannot see or touch God, his feelings would be hurt. If you have your ego – and your egoic existence is true to you so long as the world of form exists for you – various forms of God also are truth to you. Do you know what the great mystic saint Kabir has said? ‘Formless is my Father, and form is my Mother.’

If you take consecrated food your blood and your mind will be purified; you will find strength. If your mind is pure, your faith and love will be pure.
🌿Keep a picture of the Master before you, and know for certain that he is always with you. Open your grief-stricken heart to him. Shed tears and sincerely pray. ‘O Lord, draw me towards you, give me peace of mind.’ By doing so constantly you will gradually attain peace of mind. Have devotion for the Master, and whenever you are in distress, speak it out to him.
