The main reason why spiritual path seems difficult and spiritual growth seems like a struggle, is that deep-down, you're still not really convinced that divinity and happiness lies within you.
If you analyse yourself deeply enough, you will see that a significant portion of your mind still likes to indulge into the tendencies and habits that bind it and cripple it down. Or rather, a part of you is still helplessly in love with the chains of your own bondage.
See to it that if you really had a firm and complete conviction and understanding that the source of creation, which is of the nature of infinite bliss, is within you, your mind wouldn't wander anywhere else even for a second. Enlightenment thus would have been a matter of moment(s) and not lifetime(s).

Disciple.: How is it that even scholars in Vedanta have not succeeded in the pursuit of enquiry?
Master.: Though they always study Vedanta and give lessons to others yet in the absence of desirelessness they do not practise what they have learnt.
D.: And what do they do otherwise?
M.: Like a parrot they reproduce the Vedantic jargon but do not put the teachings into practice.
D.: What does Vedanta teach?
M.: The Vedanta teaches a man to know that all but the non-dual Brahman is laden with misery, therefore to leave off all desires for
enjoyment, to be free from love or hate, thoroughly to cut the knot of the ego appearing as 'I', you, he, this, that, mine and yours, to rid himself of the notion of 'I' and 'mine', to live unconcerned with the pairs of opposites as heat and cold, pain and pleasure, etc., to remain fixed in the perfect knowledge of the equality of all and making no distinction of any kind, never to be aware of anything but Brahman, and always to be experiencing the Bliss of the nondual Self. Though Vedanta is read and well understood, if dispassion is not practised, the desire for pleasures will not fade away. There is no dislike for pleasing things and the desire for them cannot leave the person. Because desire is not checked, love, anger, etc., the ego or the 'false-I' in the obnoxious body, the sense of possession represented by 'I' or 'mine' of things agreeable to the body, the pairs of opposites like pleasure and pain, and false values, will not disappear. However well read one may be, unless the teachings are put into practice, one is not really learned. Only like a parrot the man will be repeating that Brahman alone is real and all else is false.
D.: Why should he be so?
M.: The knowers say that like a dog delighting in offal, this man also delights in external pleasures. Though always busy with Vedanta, reading and teaching it, he is no better than a mean dog. Having read all the shastras and well grounded in them, they grow conceited that they are all knowing, accomplished and worthy of respect; filled with love and hate they presume themselves respectable; they are only packasses esteemed for carrying heavy loads over long distances in difficult and tortuous ways. They need not be considered as regards non-dual Truth. In the same strain Vasishta has spoken much more to Rama.

I will tell you a secret. No matter what you are doing, neither let the past come up in your mind; nor let the future bother you.
Because the past is gone, and the future hasn't come up yet. When you live just in the memories, or in the imagination, you're living in that which is non-existent.
So when you are living in the non-existential, you are obviously missing the existential. Naturally you will suffer, as you will miss your whole life.

Have you ever sat very silently, not with your attention fixed on anything, not making an effort to concentrate, but with the mind very quiet, really still? Then you hear everything, don’t you? You hear the far off noises as well as those that are nearer and those that are very close by, the immediate sounds—which means really that you are listening to everything. Your mind is not confined to one narrow little channel. If you can listen in this way, listen with ease, without strain, you will find an extraordinary change taking place within you, a change which comes without your volition, without your asking; and in that change there is great beauty and depth of insight.

This year, let a conscious positive change blossom within you - that makes you atleast a little more sincere, joyful, empathetic and loving.

Once our basic needs are fulfilled, we should turn our focus towards a higher plane of our consciousness [and not just keep wanting more and more material gains]. If, all of us can somehow know that our present life is just a part of the continuum of many more such lives and our current living conditions are the result of our previous actions, thought process and compassion, we would always keep our focus alive for knowledge, love [for God] and helping others. It is only through these qualities, we can gain everlasting happiness.

Thought, word and deed should always and at all times, be in harmony, each consistent with the other two. Because then only can grace flow in our heart. Grace will only flow freely when it has a clear and open passage. If thought, word, and deed contradict each other, each one following its own course, the flow of grace will be obstructed. For wicked people grace can never flow and lasting happiness can never be achieved, until they reform their deceitful attitude and behaviour.

Lord Ram consoles Bharat by stating the change as the eternal law of nature and no associations are permanent. He says - People get delighted with the onset of every new season. But they do not realize that their life is reducing amidst this continuous change of seasons. We should look at our associations with others in a similar way :-
🌿यथा काष्ठं च काष्ठं च समेयातां महार्णवे समेत्य च व्यपेयातां कालमासाद्य कञ्चन। २/१०५/२६

Spiritual success lies in consciously attuning yourself with the Cosmic Mind, and in maintaining your peace and poise no matter what irremediable events occur in your life, such as the death of relatives or other losses.
When you are separated from one of your dear ones by the law of Nature, you should not sorrow. Instead, thank God humbly that for a time He gave you the privilege of tending and befriending and keeping in your charge one of His children.
Spiritual success comes by understanding the mystery of life; and by looking on all things cheerfully and courageously, realizing that events proceed according to a beautiful divine plan. For the disease of ignorance, the only cure is knowledge.

Those who lead a worldly life of material desires face its adverse consequences until they realize that no material happiness is free of pain and sorrow. Eventually, their inner awareness increases and the importance of not being attached to the fruits of action dawns on them.
The Gita spontaneously manifests in the hearts of such devotees. They become aware of the unhappiness that follows all material cravings. The path of Nishkama Karma Yoga opens of its own accord.
The devotee develops an ingrained trust in the Lord as the all-merciful and benevolent Presence. The mind of the devotee does not so easily and unconsciously chase after the fruits of action. The true devotee does not feel at ease in the absence of the Divine.
All action is performed with the mind fixed on the Divine. To such a devotee, unhappiness and sorrows do come, but feeling the presence of God within and without as the sole protector, the mind remains unperturbed and blissful.

My Lord, grant me a boon:
Bless me with the eight mystic attainments
But wait, O Compassionate one!
First hear what these attainments should be...
May my ego grow infinitesimal
My Master’s grace abundant
May my desires turn weightless
And my gratitude deepen immeasurably
May I have unlimited access to the Master’s feet
And my devotion overflow
When old compulsions surface
May I no longer be slave to their power
Now all that’s left is the eighth
But wait, it is already found!
What do I gain by asking for absolute lordship
When I am already possessed by the splendour of Sadhguru?
