We all have those random little rituals.

The ones we have to do, even if no one else gets it.

Yep, we also have a few of our own and follow them no matter what.

One such ritual is that the whole team eats together whenever we go out to shoot a podcast after the wrap-up.

What you see is around 1.5 hours of the shoot, but shooting the whole thing takes a whole day.

People reach the office way earlier than usual, pack up the equipment, do the whole setup, have last-minute discussions with me, and then stay till everything has gone by smoothly.

They are there for everything, from helping calm my nerves to figuring out where to put the chairs.

So, once the podcast is done, we get to celebrate as a team.

Yes, we have shot so many of these that we are used to it now, but that doesn’t mean stuff happens magically.

We still put in the grind to make the best out of every episode.

And for that, the team deserves a little celebration here and there.

You aren’t able to crack deals.
But why?

So, apart from being on your screens, I also invest in companies and startups. And the one thing I have seen is that people running these businesses are struggling to close deals.

This happens because their focus is on what they do.

If you meet any entrepreneur, most of them will go on and on about we do this, we do that, blah blah.

Look, whatever you are doing, that’s great, but why should the other person care?

Have you given them a reason to actually think about your work?

The simple formula is telling them their ROI.

Instead of talking about what you do, talk about what they’ll get.
Because people value results, not the process.

Instead of saying:
“We can manage your social media.”

Say:
“You’ll build a stronger online presence that'll help you monetise and connect with the right audience.”

Lead with what benefits they’ll get.
That’s what gets attention.

No matter how much it might hurt, they don’t care about you or your work.

They are here for themselves, but so are you.
Learn to show them what they can get.
