We need to defend our golf courses. They're cultural relics. Not only do they represent the peak of European social and cultural progress, they also have played an important role in history. Think for a minute: Who among the greatest men in geo-politics of the last 30 years has not been an avid golfer?
Now, I understand the concerns some have about the potential effects of dedicating so much land and resources to the esteemed sport, but 1. Think of the catastrophic consequences of "banning" golf (golf can never truly be banned, some beautiful rebel somewhere will always have a club in hand) and 2. Most of the "challenges" golf creates can easily be offset. It wouldn't be too hard to create a device to remove toxic chemicals from the soil and water, (think carbon capture, but for the Earth) in fact, I'm sure some investor somewhere is already working on it. As for land use? That's an efficiency problem. We pump a few billion into vertical farming, and then, after that, we halve the size of studio apartments. They already give people way more room than they need. Where's the land use issue now?
Anyway,April Fools!
