Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar’s last act of defiance – throwing a stick at a drone on the battlefield caught on an Israeli drone camera – has given birth to a new Arabic phrase that embodies the Palestinian spirit of fighting till the end.

Sinwar’s act has since then become a powerful metaphor known as “Asa al Sinwar”, Arabic for "Sinwar's Stick".

Social media users explained the phrase “means you've tried absolutely everything and had nothing else left except a stick.

جعلك الله تتذوق من التعلق

Allah lets you taste the hardship of that attachment,

لتعلم ان الله يغار على قلب تعلق بغيره

So that you realize Allah is protective over a heart attached to anyone besides Him,

And He brings you back to Him.
