We are after the second special of Baja Portalegre. We drove very conservatively, because our task was to get to the finish line in one piece. We almost made it in one piece, because unfortunately the shock absorber broke and we drove without one shock absorber for about 40 km. But we drove so carefully that we managed to get there and we are very happy about it.
The whole season was quite difficult for us, because due to my health problems, unfortunately, we missed two rallies, which we could have scored better on. There was a very big competition here in Portugal. I don't know how many competitors started, but this competition is very big here. But anyway, we are happy that we finished this rally, I don't know exactly where are we in the class. Today it rained just before the start of the special, it was very slippery. We hooked up a little, one tree, but luckily only the plastics slightly deformed. However, technically the car was fully functional, apart from the shock absorber. What's next? I think that's all for now. We will continue to think and say our thoughts when something new comes to us.

We managed to finish the last stage of the Baja Portalegre 500. We are happy, despise we lost our rear diff at kilometer 30 or something like that. So we drove almost 150 kilometers without a rear diff. But we managed to finish with a quite decent pace as well. Sasha, our first time co-driving, so she did a quite good job. Almost no mistakes. I think we had some good luck with the weather. There wasn't much rain. The tracks were very dry as well. Some water. But normally it was okay. So I'm happy. We finished fifth in the class again, I think. I'm not sure.

Baja Portalegre 500 (FIA, SSV)
The final special stage of the race turned into a real disaster for the two leaders of the production SSV category, brothers Gonçalo and Tiago Guerreiro (both on Polaris RZR Pro R). Both were unable to finish SS3 - Gonçalo stopped in the first half of the distance, and later Tiago lost more than 20 minutes and also stopped.
The winner of the SSV race was Portuguese Luís Cidade (BRP Can-Am Maverick R), who also finished second in the overall standings. The battle for second position brought a fantastic final result - after three special stages and 445 km of competition distance, Portuguese Luís Portela Morais (Polaris RZR Pro R) was only 0.1 seconds ahead of Dutchman Mitchel van den Brink (BRP Can-Am Maverick R)!
Mitchel van den Brink finished third in the SSV group and was the overall winner of the World Cup round.
There was also an unexpected change of leader in the European Cup standings in the SSV group - the winner of the round of the European Cup in this category was Hungarian Balázs Molnár (BRP Can-Am Maverick R), who overtook Portuguese junior Afonso Oliveira (Polaris RZR Pro R) at the finish line. But even finishing in second place did not prevent Oliveira from becoming the winner of the FIA European Baja Cup in the SSV group (according to preliminary results).

🎙
— Well guys, it's over. We achieved our goal, which was to be the European champions of T4. It was difficult, a goal
that didn't come from the beginning of the year, or rather, since I started riding, which was exactly in the
beginning of the year, when I became European Junior Champion. It didn't go as we expected throughout the
year, but it ended up going as we wanted, it wouldn't be possible without the help of this great navigator who
is here by my side and a friend I've known for 8 years, maybe more. None of this would have been possible without the help of the whole Santag team. I would also like to thank my parents, who were always there and helped me with everything they could.
Today we had some problems, including we did the entire last special without front-wheel drive, we did only rear-wheel drive, in the rain, in the mud, which made it a little difficult for us to find any pace to show what we could achieve, but even so, we managed to maintain the distance to our direct concurrent and I congratulate him on the
incredible pace he had throughout the entire championship, especially this race, which came at a low point that is
outside his home, outside his natural habitat, so to speak, and to get second place in a special is very good. Yesterday we managed to gain an advantage, this morning we spun, in the afternoon we started, we were 50 meters ahead without 4wheel drive, it was 197 km on the mud, what helped - the experience I have of the race, knowing the terrain is obvious for me.
— Alfonso was incredible, with only 7 or 8 races in his life, doing a Portalegre in the rain, on the mud, only with 2wD, in a Polaris, I don't believe there are many who can do it. We drove until the end, we needed to push, and the car ran out of gas. We were lucky, our colleague from the Red Line who helped us, even though he was in the competition European cup with us, but he didn't hesitate to pull us, he broke the seat at the entrance of Parque Ferme, he came
back, pulled us, drove us until the end. These are things that stay for life, we didn't expect anyone to pull us. And without a doubt, if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't be here celebrating now.
In the end, I only have three things to say. Alfonso did it, I managed to do all the races without a penalty, for lack of waypoints, or something like that. Santag, top, I don't want to disappoint anyone, maybe one of the best teams, if not the best of our championship, and one of the best in the world.

Bartolomiej Wajzer:
I followed the last two rallies from home, but I was cheering all the way! Congratulations to Grajek, Ferreira, and all the other drivers for their great performances and for finishing the season strong.
Together we achieved something special this year — we won the European Cup in the overall classification, as well as in the Stock and Masters classes — a true triple crown!
Thanks to everyone for the emotions, the spirit, and the sportsmanship throughout the year. See you all in the next season — stronger and even more motivated!

This time I didn't do very well. Yesterday, in the prologue and in the race, I was in first place, always leading, I was doing very well. Today I continued with the same confidence. Unfortunately, I had a fall that broke the cables in front of me, where the start was, so the bike didn't pick up. We tried everything, it didn't work. I had to move, try to get to the next assistance, there we managed to fix that.
Later on, the bike was just going down, slipping, it was with water in the air filter, and water also got into the sail, so it was impossible, and I was supposed to give up, it was very difficult, the bike was turning off, I wasn't even getting it, but I tried, I needed to finish. So I came here, I spent like 8 hours, but I arrived, I finished and it's about persistence, because this is very difficult.

Just finished Baja Portalegre in the best way possible. We knew that we were coming to a difficult race, especially with the weather forecast raining. But all the team made a good job to prepare the car for all the weather conditions, as we could see. I would say now the Toyota is swimming, so it's good. I'm really happy for Joao, I'm really happy for the team and I'm really happy for myself to get this victory. So we show up in Morocco, we had some days a little bit unlucky, but in this race we showed again that the potential is there and just looking forward for the next race and hope we can repeat the victory again. Thanks to everyone, thanks to the team and thanks for the trust in João and the family.

FIA World Baja Cup 2025: standing after Baja Portalegre 500
FIA World Baja Cup Overall
Argentinian Juan Cruz Yacopini (Toyota Hilux T1+), despite missing the Portuguese round, still leads the overall FIA World Baja Cup standings. If he competes in the final two rounds of the series in Qatar and United Arab Emirates, he has a great chance of winning the World Cup title. Mathematical chances in the fight for the title in the overall standings still remain for seven other crews. However, some participants face an almost impossible task - to recover a 160-point deficit in two rounds.
