Ahead of the podcast, for the fathers out there who will no doubt, and rightly so, ask: “what if I have kids?”

“Odysseus might not have been the best father in the world—in The Odyssey, he leaves his son behind in Ithaca when he sets out on his adventures—but Telemachus could have done a whole lot worse than having a hero for a father.

This is borne out at the end of the epic, when father and son are reunited, and Odysseus encounters his son as a grown man and an equal.

Instead of settling into a life of bourgeois complacency, be a hero to your kids.

Train more.

Learn more.

Struggle more.

Develop yourself more, so that your children have something to aspire to.

Then, when you die, you might have descendants who are worthy of tending the fires burning over your grave.”

"He thought that if you refuse a fight, you can only start another. You cannot escape the law of combat, which is the law of life. He had found in war an unforgettable revelation which had inscribed in a luminous table the first articles of his faith: man exists only in combat, man only lives if he risks death. he is tested by the risk of death ".

The axe is one of the first tools created in the Neolithic period, and one of the most used since, both in war and at work. Throughout the world, the axe is associated with power, and often equated with lightning: like it, it strikes violently and loudly, and can have a double dimension, destructive on one hand, positive and feudal on the other. The axe can be represented with one or two cutting edges, depending on the civilization to which it belongs and the image that we want to give of it: it is generally considered that the double axe (like the one that appears in the Minoan civilization) carries out the synthesis opposites (masculine / feminine, life / death ...). The double-edged axe or labrys was notably used as a symbol by fascist regimes. The axe has often been used as an instrument of justice, to behead the condemned, and this deadly symbolic dimension has remained attached to it.
