💠FASTING AND MUHARRAM💠

❖❐ RasulAllah (Sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) taught us that the best month for voluntary fasting is the month of Muharram!

❐ It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (Rady'Allahu Anhu) said: The Messenger of Allaah (Sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) said:

❐ “The best fasting after Ramadaan is the month of Allaah Muharram, and the best prayer after the obligatory prayer is prayer at night.”
[Narrated by Muslim, 1163]

❐ The Prophet (Sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) used to be very keen to make sure he fasted on the day of ‘Ashoora’ because of its great status.

❐ It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbaas (Rady'Allahu Anhu) said: I never saw the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) so keen to make sure he fasted any day and preferring it over another except this day, the day of ‘Ashoora’, and this month – meaning Ramadaan.

[Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1867]

❐ Ibn ‘Abbaas (Rady'Allahu Anhu), who said: The Prophet (Sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) came to Madeenah and saw the Jews fasting on the day of ‘Ashoora’.

❐ He said, “What is this?” They said, “This is a good day, this is the day when Allaah saved the Children of Israel from their enemy and Moosa fasted on this day.”

❐ He said, “We are closer to Moosa than you.” So he fasted on this day and told the people to fast.

[narrated by al-Bukhaari | 1865]

❐ According to another version narrated by al-Bukhaari, “So we fast it out of respect for it.”

❐ Minor sins are expiated by fasting on the day of ‘Ashoora’ with regard to major sins, they need separate repentance.

❐ Al-Nawawi (rahimahuAllah) said:

❐ Fasting the day of ‘Arafaah expiates for all minor sins, in othr words this brings forgiveness for all sins except for major sins.

❐ Then he said:

❐ Fasting the day of ‘Arafaah is an expiation for two years, and the day of ‘Ashoora is an expiation for one year, and if a person’s Ameen coincides with the Ameen of the angels, his previous sins will be forgiven… Each of the things mentioned may bring expiation.

❐ If he does something that expiates for minor sins he will be expiated, and if there are no minor or major sins, it will be recorded for him as good deeds and he will rise in status thereby… If there is one or more major sins and no minor sins, we hope that it will reduce his major sins.

[Al-Majmoo’ Sharh al-Muhadhdhab, part 6]

❐ Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (rahimahuAllah) said: The expiation of purification, prayer, and fasting Ramadaan, ‘Arafah and ‘Ashoora’ applies to minor sins only.

[Al-Fataawa al-Kubra, part 5]

❐ So fast on the month of Muharram, If you are unable to fast, you can still partake in this opportunity of gaining reward by spreading the word.

❐ In shaa Allah Perhaps someone one will fast because of your message.

❐ “Whoever points to something good will have the same reward as the one who does it.”

💠 Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) reported to have stated:

‎لاَ يَزَالُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أُمَّةٌ قَائِمَةٌ بِأَمْرِ اللّٰهِ، لاَ يَضُرُّهُمْ مَنْ خَذَلَهُمْ، وَلاَ مَنْ خَالَفَهُمْ، حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهُمْ أَمْرُ اللّٰهِ وَهُمْ عَلَى ذٰلِكَ

💥"A group of people amongst my followers will remain obedient to Allah's orders and they will not be harmed by anyone who will not help them or who will oppose them, till Allah's Order (the Last Day) comes upon them while they are still on the right path."

[Bukhari, Hadith no: 3641]
💠Hāfiz Ibn Hajr (Rahimahu'Allah) said:

🔰Fasting ʿĀshūrā is of three levels:

🚮 The lowest is to fast it alone (10th Muharram).

2️⃣ Above this is to fast the 9th along with it.

3️⃣Above that is to fast the 9th and the 11th along with it. And Allāh knows best (i.e., all three days 9th, 10th and 11th of Muharram).

[al-Fath, (4/246) | Hāfiz Ibn Hajr (Rahimahullah)]
💢There are three levels of fasting ʿĀshūrā.

🔰The most complete is to fast a day before it and a day after it.

🔰After this is to fast (only) the 9th and the 10th, and the majority of Aḥādīth (are found to support this).

🔰Lastly, to fast the 10th by itself.

[Ibn al-Qayyim (Rahimahullah) Zād al-Maʿād, Page: 72]
💠Ibn al-Jawzi (Rahimahu'Allah) was asked:

⁉️"Should I glorify Allah [by making dhikr] or should I ask for forgiveness?"

🔰He said: "The dirty cloth is more in need of soap than incense."

‼️10TH MUHARRAM‼️

‼️It is a day in which Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) forgave an entire people.

💠Imam Tirmidhi (Rahimahu'Allah) relates that the Prophet (ﷺ) reported to have said to a man:

‼️“If you want to fast a month after Ramadan, then fast Muharram, for it has a day in which Allah forgave an entire people, and He turns to others in repentance in.”

💠Shaikhu’l-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah
💢 Part : 14

⭕️20-a Their False Way

🔰The criteria with them is the intellect. What it considers necessary to affirm, then it is to be affirmed. And what it considers necessary to deny, then it's to be denied. They then differ as to what the intellect does consider necessary to deny or affirm. So most of them deny them, explaining them figuratively.

♨️Some stop and resign knowledge of them to Allah, but at the same time they deny that the relevant texts do indicate any attribute. And they claim that this way reconciles the texts and the intellect. But this is false as both the texts and the intellect agree in affirming attributes of Perfection for Allah, but the intellect can not understand the details.

⭕️20-b Their Way Resembles Those Mentioned in (an-Nisa 4/60-62) [⭕️55]

[⭕️55-“Hast thou not turned Thy vision to those who declare that they believe in the revelations that have come to thee and to those before thee? Their (real) wish is to resort together for judgment (in their disputes) to the Taghout, though they were ordered to reject him. But Satan's wish is to lead them astray far away (from the right). When it is said to them: Come to what Allah hath revealed, and to the Messenger! Thou seest the Hypocrites avert their faces from thee in disgust. How then, when they are seized by misfortune, because of the deeds which they hands have sent forth? Then their come to thee, swearing by Allah: We meant no more than good-will and conciliation!” [an-Nisa 4/60-62]

💢They claim to be believers in the Revelation, but they don't accept all he (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) brought. They, when called to the Book and Sunnah, in terms of affirming Attributes of Perfection for Allah, they turn away in aversion. They have their own Taghouts which they blindly follow and prefer over what the Messenger (sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) brought. And they go to these for rulings instead of to the Book and the Sunnah. They claim to only desire good and reconciliation of the texts and the intellect.

⭕️20-c The False Implications which follow on from Their Way

🔥Their way implies that the Book and Sunnah clearly state disbelief and call to it as they are filled with texts that affirm Allah's Attributes, while they say that to affirm these is at-Tashbih and kufr. It implies that the Book and Sunnah do not make the truth clear, as nothing in it indicates denial of His Attributes of Perfection. While they think that denying them is the truth.

💠They may use (Maryam 19/65) [⭕️56] and (al-Ikhlas 112/4) [⭕️57] to prove their way, but anyone with intelligence knows these show that nothing resembles Him in His Attributes and does not show that denial is obligatory. It implies that the Salaf spoke falsehood, or concealed the truth or were ignorant as there are mutawatir reports from them affirming His Attributes of Perfection.

🍃And there's not a single report from them making denial obligatory. It implies that, if His Attributes of Perfection are denied, then attributes of deficiency must be affirmed. Hence these deniers go to something worse than what they were fleeing from.

[⭕️56- Allah (azza wajal) said: “Lord of the heavens and of the earth, and of all that is between them; so worship Him, and be constant and patient in His worship: knowest thou of any who is worthy of the same Name as He?” [Maryam 19/65]

[⭕️57- Allah (azza wajal) said: “And there is none like unto Him.” [al-Ikhlas 112/4]

⭕️20-d The Doubts and False Ideas these Deniers Depend on

♨️False claims, for instance that there's a consensus of what they say. False analogies leading to say that affirmation implies Tashbih. They dwell on words which have meanings that may or may not be correct for Allah. Hence they end up completely denying them instead of determining which meanings are correct e.g., with respect to al- Jism, al-Hayyiz [⭕️58], al-Jihah, etc. Then they embellish these false arguments with fine words and fancy terms, to try to fool the ignorant.
[⭕️58-With respect to al Hayyiz; a restricted realm; then we halt at the words and look to the meaning. If what is meant is that the creation confines Him, then this is prohibited. If what is meant is that He is distinct and separate from the creation, then this is correct.

⭕️20-e Arguments that Refute these False Ideas

🔰Their ideas are contradictory as what they affirm necessarily forces them to also affirm what they flee from and deny. Each group of them will contradict each other; one will say the mind makes obligatory that which another will say the mind makes prohibited! Even a single one of them will contradict himself in different places.

💢This contradictory nature is one of the strongest proofs of their falsehood. Their denial necessarily leads to falsehood. The relevant texts offer no scope for ta'wil and if there was some scope, there's no proof to prefer the figurative meaning over the most apparent one. Interpreting the Attributes away is like how the Qaramitah and Baatiniyyah interpret away Salah (prayer), Sawm (fasting) and other worships.

🔰The clear, uncorrupted mind does not try to turn or change the texts which affirm the Attributes. It does affirm Attributes of Perfection for Allah, but cannot comprehend the details. The prominent ones of the deniers did recognize that the intellect can not reach the details of tawhid, so we must accept the texts without distorting them.

🔰Among the causes of having worries disappear and sins forgiven is sending ṣalāh (supplications for peace) upon the Prophet ﷺ, and the effect of sending ṣalāh upon him on Friday is greatest.

💠Ubayy ibn Kaʻb, may Allah be pleased with him, said,

🔰"O Messenger of Allah, I frequently invoke the blessings of Allah upon you. How much of my supplications should I devote to you?"

💢He, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said, "Whatever you wish." I said, "A quarter?" He said, "Whatever you wish, and if you do more, it is better for you." I said, "One half?" He said, "Whatever you wish, and if you do more, it is better for you." I said, "Two thirds?" He said, "Whatever you wish, and if you do more, it is better for you." I said, "Shall I devote all my supplication to (invoking blessings upon) you?"

💥He said, "Then, you will be freed from your worry and your sin will be forgiven."

[At-Tirmithi: good-authentic; Al-Haakim in Al-Mustadrak]

💠Anas bin Maalik (radhi Allaahu anhu) said:  Verily the Prophet (salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said:

💥Whoever sends Salah upon me once Allah will send ten (blessings) upon him and remove ten of his sins and raise his rank by ten levels.

[Imam Ahmad in his Musnad, Imam Bukharee in Adabul Mufrad #642 and #643. Jami Sagheer #6359 authenticated by Al Abaanee]

💠“Truly Allah and His angels say Salah on the Prophet, O you believers, recite Salah on him and send Salam on him completely.” [Al-Ahzab | C.33: A.56]

💠Fazr Salat on Friday💠

💎It was narrated by Ibn ‘Umar (Rady'Allahu Anhu): The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) said:

💠‼️“The best prayer before Allaah is Fajr prayer on Friday in congregation"‼️

[al-Bayhaqi in Shu’ab al-Eemaan]

🌷Sending Salah upon the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihe wa sallam 🌷

💠Sending ṣalāh upon the Prophet ﷺ on Friday is better than on the rest of the days, and its night (Thursday night) is the best of nights. He ﷺ said,

🌷“Among the best of your days is Friday, so frequently send ṣalāh upon me therein.”

💠The crown of all adhkār on Friday is sending ṣalāh (supplications for peace) upon the Prophet ﷺ. Those who mention it the most are those most mentioned in the heavens (by the angels) and those with the most tranquility on earth.

💠Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) talked about Friday and said,

💥"There is an hour (opportune time) on Friday and if a Muslim gets it while praying and asks something from Allah, then Allah will definitely meet his demand."

🔰And he (the Prophetﷺ) pointed out the shortness of that time with his hands.

⭕️21-a Definitions

⭕️21-a-i The Mu’attil

♨️The Mu’attil is the one who does Ta'til i.e., denies anything from Allah's Names or Attributes e.g., the Jahmiyyah, Mu'tazilah, Ash'ariyyah etc.

⭕️21-a-ii The Mumaththil

🔥The Mumaththil is the one who does Tamthil i.e., affirms attributes for Allah through likening Him with His creation e.g., the Raafidis etc.

⭕️21-b The Tamthil Done By The Mu’attil

💢The only reason why the Mu'attil does Ta'til is because he believes that affirming the Attributes necessarily involves doing Tashbih, and so he denies the Attributes in order to flee from that. So he does Tamthil first and then Ta'til.

⭕️21-c The Ta'til Done By The Mumaththil

🍃He does this in three ways:

⭕️21-c-i He has Denied the Texts that Affirm the Attributes by taking them Away from what they Must Indicate

🔰Which is that Allah has Attributes that befit Him and which do not resemble those of the creation.

⭕️21-c-ii By Likening Allah (azza wajal) to the Creation He has Denied every Text that Proves He is Not Like the Creation [⭕️59]

[⭕️59 - “(He is) the Creator of the heavens and the earth: He has made for you pairs from among yourselves, and pairs among cattle: by this means does He multiply you: there is nothing whatever like unto Him, and He is the One that hears and sees (all things).” [ash-Shura 42/11];

“And there is none like unto Him.” [al-Ikhlas 112/4]

⭕️21-c-iii By Likening Allah (azza wajal) to the Creation, He has Denied the Perfection which is Obligatory for Him

💢By likening the Lord who is Perfect in every way, with the defective creation.

⭕️22-a Definition

♨️Ilmu’l-Kalaam (theological speech) is what the Mutakillimun (theologians) invented, claiming it to be a part of the principles of the Religion, although it's away from what the Book and Sunnah brought.

⭕️22-b Some Narrations from Salaf [⭕️60]

[⭕️60-The Statements of the Imams on Ilmu’l-Kalaam

⭕️22-c The Two Attitudes towards the People of Kalaam

⭕️22-c-i Punishment

💢So that they should repent to Allah and that others will not follow their way. This attitude relates to Allah's Law.

⭕️22-c-ii Sympathy

🔰As we see the confusion Shaytan has covered them in and we praise Allah for saving us from their predicament. This attitude stems from Allah's Decree.

⭕️22-d Those of the People of Kalaam who are Most Prone to be Misguided

💠They are those who enter this, but not into its extreme depths. This is because those who did enter the extreme depths of these beliefs, did realize the falsehood involved and so returned to the Book and the Sunnah e.g., some of their most prominent figures.
