This security-focused messaging app allows you to register a unique username so that people can message or add you to groups without necessarily knowing your phone number. This way, you can keep your number private. Possibly the biggest disadvantage Telegram has over more popular messages is simply that: popularity. Despite its hundreds of millions of fans, Telegram is still leagues behind WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and WeChat in active monthly users.

However, you can choose to get rid of the old sessions sooner in order to further boost security. All your normal chat media will be saved in your cloud storage. But, secret chats are not a part of the Telegram cloud.
